Title: ban dynamic ip
Post by: death_invader777 on 21 August, 2009, 15:32:42
my isp provides pppoe and has dynamic ips so it is very difficult to ban users wid nick as they come back wid some other nick and request for registration......also many new users come to the hub and it becomes difficult to recognize the rule breakers! the self reg is disable but still its not so easy!

any solutions?

There is no way you can be sure if the user is the same as the user which is previously not allowed. You might check this by comparing hostname and TAG, but it is not very reliable.

When ppl break your hubrules, you should check more often by using more OPs or use a filecheck script/client/bot.

Nope, mac address can't be resolved by hubsoftware and bots. This is just the way it works. You might considder to ban IPranges and allow only registered users.

thats not possible....The ISP host the hub! they dont want calls there! thats y i handle it!

Its very irritating when the user i banned comes back smiling and teasing!
