Sorry if any of my question are a bit stupid :P
1) Added: SetChatTrace and SetCmdTrace to lua (request by the_pest).
--- Q: whats is this? spy function or something :P
2) Added: UserIP2 support.
--- Q: this is some kind of dc protocol addition right? but what does it really do?
3) Added: Checkbox per profile for sending all users ip.
--- Q: I have no idea of what this does, can anyone explain? And what can it be used for?
4) Added: Checkbox to enable sending of ip to user on login.
--- Q: Again I have no idea of what this does, can anyone explain? And what can it be used for?
5) Changed: Load/Save initial folder for scripts is on PtokaX startup set to actual script folder (request by bluebear).
--- Q: the ptokax script folder is like before when you unzip the zip file, whats the difference with this change?

That has to do with script handling , when u use the script editor, if u loaded a different folder and tried to save, it would save on the previous folder, or something like it !
Just guessing:
2QuoteExtensions.txt
Feature: UserIP2
Since: 0.305
Usage: This indicates support for $UserIP, see http://dcplusplus.sf.net/wiki/
Basically it gives you the users Ip. Before in older versions ptokaX just let OP's send $UserIP nick| requests. Now it will give all the IP's in one go.
3 A way to decide who receives this.
4 Also giving you the IP of new connecting users, instead of just the ones already connected. :)
5 What Dessamator said. Try using the script editor in an older version, and load / save script in a different directory. Next time you use it, it will point to that directory.

3 A way to decide who receives this.
You mean when you download something from someone, you will recieve/see their ip?
QuoteOriginally posted by Pothead
4 Also giving you the IP of new connecting users, instead of just the ones already connected. :)
Isn't that the same as using user.sIP in NewUserConnected?
Or maybe you meant that with this activated, you will see all users ips immediately when you connect?
QuoteOriginally posted by blackwings

3 is for when you connect.
4 is for when they connect, after you.

ehm, ok, so only ops should be allowed to have this option :P

Is to set checkbox under chat in Users / Chat tab in gui... i remove saving of this buttons few versions ago because some hubowners leave it enabled and complains about high memory usage :(
QuoteOriginally posted by blackwings
2) Added: UserIP2 support.
--- Q: this is some kind of dc protocol addition right? but what does it really do?
It is extension to send IPs to users. In default it send IP to user on login (is usefull to set active mode) and to send all users IP to OPs...
QuoteOriginally posted by blackwings
3) Added: Checkbox per profile for sending all users ip.
--- Q: I have no idea of what this does, can anyone explain? And what can it be used for?
Send to user of enabled profile all users ip on login and ip of any new loged user...
QuoteOriginally posted by blackwings
4) Added: Checkbox to enable sending of ip to user on login.
--- Q: Again I have no idea of what this does, can anyone explain? And what can it be used for?
Send ip to user on login... used for example to set active mode IP;)

5) Changed: Load/Save initial folder for scripts is on PtokaX startup set to actual script folder (request by bluebear).
--- Q: the ptokax script folder is like before when you unzip the zip file, whats the difference with this change?
For example. I have 2 PtokaX, one running always and second for testing changes in new versions. If i want to load/save in one of this PtokaX then in old PtokaX is always remembered folder where i save/load. In new PtokaX is save/load always from default script folder of Ptokax where i do it and not from remembered dir
so if I want to have it like in the previous releases ptokax, then I should have like this? =
3) Added: Checkbox per profile for sending all users ip.
--- turn this one on only for ops
4) Added: Checkbox to enable sending of ip to user on login.
--- turn this one on for every profile

Yes, if you want it like previous PtokaX versions then disable it both. For both is used UserIP2 support (not available in previous version) and if you enable it then it increase hub upload...
Congrats PPK on the version of PtokaX. :)
Is 0.3.3.21 stable now?
Very nice to see a functionel version of ptokax...
I do have a requset tough...
A [SEARCH] botton in the script editor.
In many cases I scripted and dont remember where i finished and so on..
And even worse if you downloaded someone else script..You cant find anything if you find any problems...Or just want to change some stuff =)
Can this be arranged??

i just updated my hub, to ptokax 0.3.3.21 and robocop 10.01e..
"Direct Connect Text Client v0.85.9"
1 ) as i know DCTC don't have tag, and robocop don't allow clients without tag.
2 ) DCTC have bug and send to hub unknown command ($Capabilites) without reason... PtokaX don't allow this.

is there any other way to fix besides using a GUI?
if i add something to ClientTags.xml maybe works?

Sorry for posting in the wrong thread.. but is there a way to show the tempban reason to the user that has been banned?
Right now if I tempban a user like this:
Quote!tempban testuser 2h because this_is_a_test

the message
this_is_a_test
will ony be displayed once like this:
Quote[15:11] You had been temp banned to: 2 min because: test

DCTC is open-source ... is easy to add tag and fix problem with sending unknown command to hub :)
thnx for helping.. we fixed.. edited some c+ code in a rusty way of a different client (microdc) and then it was able join.. and it even runs better than before :P

Hi guys, I'm a bit concerned about intercepting deflood events.
The new version has implemented some really nice functions but it should be nice if the server raises a FloodArrival event or something like that.
Now I'm simply don't understanding where to use that functions (maybe you could give me some hits :D )
I would like to intercept these kind of events
*** Connection flood from IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx detected.
and ban the related nick cause these are mainly provoked by hacked clients (I guess).
Any help appreciated.
Best regards
ruspant

Maybe it sets the number of maximum simultaneous logins. A geek can also tell how this is influenced by WinXPSP2.

Maybe it sets the number of maximum simultaneous logins. A geek can also tell how this is influenced by WinXPSP2.
The MaxLogins setting is the threshold for how many simultanoius clients that can be validated.
I belive this setting has nothing todo with Microsoft Windows XP SP2 nor socket features in Microsoft Windows 2003 Server. But it is true that the windows sockets, in Microsoft Windows XP SP2 changes (restricts) some things. But it is mostly on raw socket, and programs affected would probably be programs like port scanners and such. Anyhow you should not concern your self about this, unless your developing software, or is some kind of superuser.
Hope this answer was usefull :)
I was just asking because handshakes are limited to 10 at a time, and once I was told anout that it can affect servers as well.

Yes it can affect servers as well, but only a small amount of programs use raw sockets. If a program absolutely need usage of raw sockets, there is a workaround to allow it anyway. And the limit your talking about is only on incomplete outbound connections. When the limit is reached, all new outbound connections are put in a queue and will be resolved at a fixed rate.
the default is 50 on max logins, will it take allot more cpu to raise the value to 100?
QuoteOriginally posted by blackwings

I recalls a pm with PPK (not sure if im correct) but he said this was made an option. The older ptokax has the limit set to 50, but now there is the setting, wich defaults to 100 (or 50 if im wrong).
Changeing the setting will not take more cpu. Its the amount of concurrent validateing users that desides how much cpus is used. The logics will say that, the more concurrent users who are validated the more cpu you will use. But this setting is not that important, it is unlikely that this many users will connect to you and be validated simultanious (not counting hub restarts and such). But setting this to low on older ptokax version will allow a connection flooder to block access to new users. But this is resolved, with the inbuild deflood.
If it was me who maintained ptokax, this setting would be removed, and the usage of operation time-out would be used instead.
MaxLogins is no more used for mas simultaneous logins in 0.3.3.2x (= no more way to use it to block hub with flooder), is used for something else and will be replaced with another and better setting :))
Sounds good, what kind of setting will this new one be?
Something like how much users with finished login sequence add to hub simultaneously -> send userlist to this users -> if hub send it to very much users then is upload on max and hub start dropping users with connection reset
If i understand this right:
Unlimited number of clients can be validated simultaniously. But the nicklist/motd will only be sent to a limited amount of clients simultaniously, and the rest will be placed in a queue?
This will still could be exploitet, as easily as before.
I still think a operation timeout would be better (i know you don't want more timeouts).
For example.
hub sends
$Lock|
Now the client has 2 seconds to send $Supports or $Key
And then the same timeout for each command required to validateing this clients.
QuoteOriginally posted by bluebear

$Lock is on start of login sqeuency and limit is after full login is finished and user be added to hub... timeout like this is here only waste of cpu

Hellu folks
can some1 tell me whats this is and whats happends if i change the value ??
MaxLogins=100
I didn't notice any problems with my ptokax on winXP SP2
But i got troubles with DC++ though....
DC++ will drop connections with hubs randomly or can't send enough data to the hub to stay in, causing the hub to disconnect you.
This definitely has something to do with the 10 handshakes per second, i was tinkering with the setting a bit using a special program and finally i opened them all.
This fixed my problem
So i recommend everyone using this program, sorry i can't remember the name or adress :S

Did you get any error with ID 4226 in your eventlog?
I have no problems with loss of connections to hub or anything else. Error ID 4226 i get sometimes (to many handshakes) but it do not cause loss of connections.
And a handshake has nothing to do with a connection already established, means that your connection loss probably did not happen because of restrictions on incomplete outbound connections. When i get the 4226 it is because i use all available bandwidht; this results in slow establishment of new connections and the limit will be reached fast. Mostly of all this will only slow down your programs, and i do not belive your dc client problem was directly caused by thease new restrictions in sp2. If your use many different p2p programs simultanious you might suffer greatly under this new restriction. The restriction might cause some programs to do unexpected things, like crash or maybe even drop a connection. The developer of your client should be the one to fix that.
SP2 is definitely the cause of the connections being dropped
Because changing the amount of handshakes solves this problem
You can do this setting with XP-Antispy (http://www.xp-antispy.org/).

Okay then, but after reading what you described I still don't see any logical reason to why the limit on incompleted outbound connections, also should effect connections that is already established (completed).
I've testet it, by writeing a small program that connects to dcdev hub, and then it keeps flooding new connections that will not be completet (cause the ip is not used). And the programs connection to hub is not dropped nor is it in any other programs i use.
But if this little program bast posted solved your problem it's just great.

for example, if you have 7/10 in New Conections from same Ip, then if a user from the same ip tries to connect more that 7 times to the hub in less then 10 seconds, then deflood with ban it or whatever. This function was it I talked about in mine post above.

thx blackwings dude for fast replay, so if i understood right this function is like anti clone and i don't need to run any anti clone scripts. right?
thx :))

No, because if a new user connects in an hour with the same IP, PtokaX will do nothing.

so than this function on ptokax is useless?

Sorry I just thought it was painfully obvious, especially if you read what was written in front of you.
I did created a seperate thread about this, but no one answered, so I ask here as well =
PPK, if I disable null sessions in windows, can it cause problems for Ptokax?
just curious, when does the next release come, I really want to have it because of its new banlist + ofcourse that some bugs are fixed in that release :D
btw, ppk, have you fixed the auto register problem?

As you can see from above, the hub limit is set to 350 but hubsoft does not accept incoming users over 269...
Very strange behaviour if you think it does the same even with scripting disabled and after cleaning the ban list.
I've also tryed do do a "almost clean" install, keeping only my RegisteredUsers.xml.. and still the problem persists.
Any hints to solve this ?
Thanks a lot

As you can see from above, the hub limit is set to 350 but hubsoft does not accept incoming users over 269...
Look in users/chat to total, is number of total users connected (all users not finish login) and if this number is higher than userlimit then hub not accept more users.
Hi PPK.. I have small request for new PtokaX. Can you change getinfo command? Now not is nice.... change actually display with this:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i things this is very very nice. Thanks a lot
It would be better to include templates for all the displays:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
? Showing information on: 6Marilyn6Manson6
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
? General information:
? User: #Nick (#Status)
? Profile: #Profile
? IP: #IP (Connected: #LastConnect)
? DNS: #DNS
? Passive: #Mode
? Operator: #Operator
? Times kicked: #TimesKicked
?
? Sharesize: #ShareSize (exact size: #ExactShareSize)
? Email: #Email
? Description: #Description
? Tag: #Tag
? Hubs: #TotalHubs
? Slots: #Slots
? Client: #Client #Version
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And so on.
This means hub owners can change the way the hub looks instead of being forced to use the generic displays.
Would also be nice to have a editable ban\reg\so forth messages =]
Thanks Corayzon and kisses for you LMAO
Thanx PPK.
I'm just checking the hub now:
Userlimit: 300
Total: 302
Logged: 206
this.. while I have set
frmHub:SetMaxLogins(10)
and hub access is restricted to registered user only.
The total # of users keep floating around 300 but logged ones keep falling...
(Total - Logged) is always > 70 !!!!!
Sounds quite strange to me...
maybe some clients hangs while loggin in and lock the socket for a long time ?
I forgot to say that i'm using tcp 411 & 4111 and upd 1411 port.
Could this has some meaning about my problem ?

frmHub:SetMaxLogins(10)
This is very low, try 50 or maybe better 100...

Yes some clients (DC++ and mods) without reason sometimes hang on login and block socket, i have two timeouts to catch it but if you have low max logins then is not big problem to take all login sockets :(

The problem stil persist even with 50 or 100.
Maybe some client

Is it possible to change settings for these timeouts or otherwise close any "hanging" socket ?

No, lower timeout cause disconnecting of slow users.

Here is no way to detect this sockets...
