what exactly does this setting under deflood do?  i'm not exactly sure what to set it at.

Dessamator

when in doubt, DO NOTHING,  but anyways, it limits the connections to ur hub, to avoid hub flooders, etc etc etc

Well, the default setting for this is: Disconnect 10/60 secs.
If I'm not wrong, it means that every IP that connects to the hub more than 10 times gets disconnected for the next 60 seconds.

Best regards.

I tnink there are many new users of Ptokax that would like
to have a small tutorial in deflood to reach best performace
maybe a new thread where hubbrunners can post it
A cold BeeR is stunning !!

Well, the best way to be sure of it was testing... and my guess was right :D
Disconnect 10/60 secs = Every IP that connects to the hub more than 10 times gets disconnected for the next 60 seconds.

Cheers

well, i'm glad i wasn't the only one that didn't know what this meant.  ;)  maybe PPK (or someone else) could write some documentation on the hub that would be kept updated with each successive revision.

deflood has 3 options, from start 2 finish.
action, amount and interval.
action is the action it takes when the filter rule is broken.
this is set by default on the most freindly option (warn or disconnect)
it's up 2 you 2 decide what action it should take (my advice is temp ban)
amount is the amount of times the rule may be broken per interval.
and like expected the interval is the time interval.
so disconnect 10/60 means that when the user reconnects more then 10 times within 60 seconds he gets disconnected.
better here is 2 ban him for a couple minutes.
any flooder needs 2 reconnect 2 change it's nick, so more then 10 nicks within 60 seconds is bye bye for x minutes.
flooder solved.
this is the same on all other filters.
5x the same mainchat line within 60 seconds gives a warning.
and on 6 warnings the user is tempbanned (default setting).
