log on to a hub running behind a router

hi there, i have a little problem here, and its like this:
im running a hub with a router, but i cant log on to my hub because the router. im always gettin timeout. could someone help me out here?

i don't know wich ports need to be declared or what i need to do... hope someone can help me here. tkhx in advance

Who "owns" the router, you or your company ? By owning I mean has access to modify settings

What I do in my case is log onto the router and open up a port to my local ip..  then just use the port number in my address...

wat kind of router do u have  under the section fire wal is there a dmz ?

uhm, i dont know that really. thats a changing im planning to do and the pc im planning to put the hub running has a router, but i haven't seen it anytime before, maybe ya can explain it better?tkhx

There is actually np at all doing that, i do it and i think many moore too, imo its a very good way to protect ur pc/hub.

But u have to be able to configure it, and i would't have put it in the DMZ, IF i were u.

use ports on the hub, redirect (forward) incoming request to ur lokal IP address. it realy is the same procedure as if u have clients behind it.

i can use it on 4 pc en still keep my downl for each
around the 380 kb
when i use the settings in the virtual server or spec apications thing go wrong lolz

when your behind a router and the hub and client are on the same computer you need 2 connect 2 the local host (127.0.0.1).
if the hub and client run on different computers you need 2 connect 2 the local network ip (mostly something like 192.168.0.xxx or 10.0.0.xxx).

A router normally stops incoming Internet traffic from getting on your network, unless the traffic is in response to one of your computers or when using port forwarding. But instead of discarding the incoming traffic or using port forwarding, you can send incoming traffic to one computer on your network by establishing a "Default DMZ Server". (DMZ = humorous reference to "Demilitarized Zone".)

do not use a DMZ. A computer with DMZ loses firewall protection, and is exposed to exploits from the Internet. If compromised, your own computer can attack the rest your network.

so it does not use the hardware firewall in the router,..just learn to portforward, just open port411.

And sure it will work ok if u put the pc's in the DMZ, but as i tried to explain (maybe i didnt do it to good -SaintSinner ? hehe) ur pc wil be "outside" the local lan and thats not what u want.

u have to "forward" or in other routers the settings namned "pass tru".

This is one line from my router and its to my hub. If u wanna be on active with ur clients u have to do the same for them but use another port

your forgetting port 413 udp, thats used 2 search pasive users.

That was only ONE line from my router plop:))

And in my Netgear i dont have to do like that.

In the client i use i specify a port and the IP from "outside". In the router i specify that port and forward it to the lokal IP of that client.

The router forwards both UDP and TCP request.
