Post by: LiqUiD~TrolL on 14 December, 2004, 19:27:37
hello everyone

everyone knows that shareing files_(CDS,DVDS,PROGGRAMS .....) it is ilegal.
i have read some articles that many ppl caught arround many countries.
and my Question is : can i protect my servers IP
make it invisible in the net,or maybe some protection
i know that it s very hard to protect it 100% but at least a small protection i can put somehow ?????

i don t wanna get busted for sure & pay all my life for all these cds dvds i have =o)_!!

as far, as I understand, server doesnt duplicate those files. User does! Share only personal files and everything will be ok with you! Owner isint responsible for users share!

I had a lot of trouble installing protowall - dont know if it is a Win2k problem or what. However the only way i found that i could properly install it is:

You get 2 .ini files - just rename the protowall.ini to protowall.ini.bak then rename the protowall-mp.ini to protowall.ini

Seemed to work fine after i did that!

hello to all of you  merry chirstams by the way and happy new year

well my firneds i ve downloaded and installed Protowall and Bloacklist manger  ,i installed them and working both
i have 2 questions for you guys

my first question]

are you sure that these proggrams can hide my hubs server IP???  or make him invisible??
if they don t then whats thier job?? don t allow to connect in some addreses?? lool

my second question]

how can i add the BML list in the Protowall???
i can t add the list it appers
Title:
Post by: n1ck on 30 December, 2004, 17:39:58
it doesnt hide your hubs ip address - what it does is has a list of IP's of media forces that will try and get info on your hub and the users for example RIAA FBI etc.

Go to option then app locations - you see a browse button next to protowall - go look for protowall's ipfilter.p2p. Then when you download the list - you go to export protowall. It overwrites the old version. At the moment it is blocking around 2.6 million ip address. Trust me its worth having!

in the protowall pathname here must not be spaces, else the driver will fail to load.

install protowall and blocklist manager.

enable protowall integration, also enable BLM to update list @ every startup and make protowall as part of auto-update

in BLM, use the following lists:

if you have a firewall like sygate, you can enbable a protection against ip spoofing.

Application-Based Intrusion Detection System
Protocol Driver-Level Protection
Active Response
Anti-IP & Anti-MAC Spoofing
Application DLL Authentication
Firewall Termination Prevention

use outpost or visnetic

i have tested all fw's out there and these 2 are the best.

outpost is easy and safe.

visnetic is like a hardware fw but has atomic good features

i do use outpost and it's NOT protecting from IP Spoofing, we already talked about it in here (http://board.univ-angers.fr/thread.php?threadid=3202&boardid=17&styleid=1&sid=8cffc0c4996132b5d737cbf5a51406d6) ...

then thats not being busted ;)

being busted means mediaforce notifies ur ISP about sharing illegal stuff

sygate for stopping the ip spoofing and protowall to stop being 'busted'

Tried all the other firewalls, from norton to zonealarm, there are all much of a muchness (im sure thats a word) but sygate offers a few extra bits!

I thought Sygate has a blocklist too for use with blocklist manager...

btw outpost has Blockpost too, but it consumes 40% os my CPU

Unfortunatley its a manual input system, you can covert the block list into txt and then cut and paste, i've never used outpost so i cant comment, but protowall has a tiny footprint on cpu/memory

Well, if you use PG 1.* to convert the blocklist to Sygate, then it goes very quickly. I use PG Lite instead of Protowall and its better I think. Soon PG 2 will come and it will be superior to Protowall.
