PtokaX will soon be available in a gui-less version that can be started from the command prompt or as Windows Service.
Beta testing of this version shows that a minor setup is needed before you can use this functionality.
Most settings are changeable by script, but a few are mandatory to start the hub.
I've written a small simple program that allows you to set these settings.
It will also use PtokaX' own commands to register itself as a Windows Service, and after setup, the hub can be started.
Attached is an image and the program
Note: you can run the program from anywhere you want, but you will need a clean installation of a version of PtokaX without GUI unpacked.
fantastic work... a much needed addition to the service form of ptokax :)
Nice work CG
Nice work ;D ;D
good work :P:P
As PtokaX 0.4.1.0RC2 has a change in service install commands, I had to make a new version as well.
Attached is version 1.1, compatible with RC2
April 21st 2008 Edit: Download version 1.2 below instead :)
added a link to my ptokax mirror (http://www.ptokax.ath.cx) refering to this thread :D
Cool thnx ;D
Updated to version 1.2
- Fixed a small bug in checking if the service was successfully registered (unknown error message may have caused a success check which could have led to a crash in application trying to start a non-existing service ::) )
- Added the possibility to add a sub-directory where the cfg, scripts, texts and logs files are stored. (0.4.1.0RC4 and up)
Specifying the sub-directory will remain optional, as this is also the case in manually registering and setting up PtokaX.
Leave the field blank to set up hubs pre 0.4.1.0RC4 or if you don't want to use this feature :)
Test info :
- This application works on both 32 and 64 bit systems
- This application requires Administrator priviliges on Windows Vista
