I have also experienced this in the previous alpha (dunno whether fixed), whenever a script was erroneous on restart, it crashed.

Maybe this is that, since I did not get it so often.

I know, is done to be used with new banlist... in actual it is done in crazy way, is not known if is ip ban or nick ban (and that is why is banlist too slow) :D

That seems to be a bad RAW command. Please post the RAW.

With this ptokax I can't check with DCDM

[16:22:24] *** Checking started
[16:23:05] *** Disconnected

and everybody who checks has it in my hub

there is no way to set the new connection from same IP , maybe that's the problem ?(
if that's the problem: turn this off for a OP  :]

with other ptokax we don't had problems with checking

thnx. Yvisaur

I got a nice one here - but it's to long to post here (approx 1 error window/second) until i quit it via task manager

Even though they r probably script related but i'll post it anyway  :D

PtokaxDebug.log (http://www.psycho-chihuahua.net/PtokaxDebug.log)

i only had these scripts running -->

bastyas lawmaker
plops codeboard

the last bug in the list comes whenever i stop the hub.

Found the Problem, was an older Codeboard Version  :D

Yup, malformed raw's does cause the hub to disconnect you.  Which is good. :)

DCDM works ok for me, this is the only  raw i use:

$To: %[nick] From: %[mynick] $<%[mynick]> You are being kicked because: %[cheatingdescription]|<%[mynick]> %[mynick] is kicking %[nick] because: %[cheatingdescription]|$Kick %[nick]|

bad raw disconnects dcdm

This one pisses me off, trying to keep my hub reliable! Died in my task bar and didn't leave a crash message.

Any idea on what caused it PPK?

nl_lsp.dll, is Layered Service Providing DLL of NetLimiter; which is a piece of software that can be inserted into the Windows TCP/IP handler like a link in a chain. Simply uninstall NetLimiter for a reliable hub. If your problem continues to occur, use LSPfix (http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.zip) to fix them.

dont know if its a bug or something else
Of some reason I lost all contents in some of the cfg files
My question is if its possible to let ptoka create a backup file for those, replaced on a daily basis
else i have to do this manually and gives me a hell lot of extra work

Maybe this document will help (find me on icq if you need html): http://ptxscriptdb.psycho-chihuahua.net/download.php?view.81

This covers at least the lua part.

I don't see why this is unusual. From my experiences the upload tends to be significantly more when a noticable amount of bandwidth is being used. When there's not much activity in the hub both the upload and download tend to be pretty similar.

I think there is a problem with the random generator in 3.3.21. Every time the PtokaX is started, the random function generates the same numbers in the same order. I have noticed that on a trivia script, when the question began to repeat themselves on every restart. This behaviour began with version 3.3.21. Can you please look into this matter? Thank you for your efforts and keep up the good work!

For some reason, random stuff generated mear the main chunk is really the same on every usage. I will look into my test scripts, because the bot can (and should)  be fixed.

hi

there seems to be problems with Ptokax and rdaddress

if i set a new adress it rd to that in ptokax.ini not that in hubsoft

i must change manual in .ini file so rd works in the network =(

should not Ptokax write to ptokax.ini direct when a change is made ??
Title:

as far as i know the hubsoft only saves to file when u close the Gui (or perhaps after a period of time - just a wild guess).

Crashes are caused by erroneous scripts, I am longing for a new PtokaX release too. Probably a reg-backup script can help, request it in the appropriate thread.

What is the RC? And every script is prone to crash, since they are made by humans.

I'm not sure if this is a bug.
I may be doing something wrong, so please help me

I'm trying to wirgt some kind of HubList Server (a bit diferent from the ones I know, otherwise it wont be necessary to code).. and when I open a socket to comunicate with a PtokaX hub (0.3.3.21) I never get a response.
In the hub I got:
[19:30] (82.155.xxx.xxx) > $Key t??? A ????0wW??Ss Qp#CS?%?CbgD????1A?p|
[19:30] (82.155.xxx.xxx) > $BotINFO {HubListPinger}|
[19:30] x User removed: (Socket 508)

When I try to comunicate with SDCH Hubs, for exemple, everything goes fine and I got their response.

The sequence I'm using to comunicate with the hubs is:
Open a socket
Upon recive the command $Lock send the command $Key and send the command $BotINFO

After this I should receve a commmand $HubINFO, witch I never do with the PtokaX hubs.

Thanks

Try it like this...
QuoteHub:   $Lock EXTENDEDPROTOCOL6AypFPFxLMmUfXXtlRR1v2ZF@^Dwin Pk=PtokaX|
Client:   $Supports BotINFO|
Hub:   $HubName ...|
Hub:   $Supports HubINFO

In old NMDC protocol yes, but we now use EXTENDEDPROTOCOL and PtokaX not need $Key if client send $Supports :))

hmm, but without the autoregister, peoples hubs wont get registered = no new user,
its surprising no one has reported this bug before. PPK, when do you think you can fix it?
(you said it was a borland problem, have they said anything about when they maybe have fixed the hub?)

In hublist.org you don't need to use register function in hub, you only add url to hub on hublist.org webpage and pinger do all other work...

with prokax 1708 zion 1.14 and mdc 2.0 works fine but the 21 ptokax version anytime i check i got disconnected, wouldn't it be better to relaese a ptokax version when it is working ok instead of every moth a new version full with bugs?

Haven't you checked your brain before using your mouth? PtokaX disconnects some buggy client. If you wanted a real solution, instead of criticising, you would have posted a log from the admin chat or something similar, or at least a better description of the problem. Also, if you wanna join the dev team, PPK will surely allow, but first watch your words, and try to fix the bugs in your own brain before using it. What I mean is:

Quotebut the 21 ptokax version anytime i check i got disconnected

What does check mean?

But problem with 1708 versie is a pop up screen saying access violation, this freeses ptokax.
And isn't this a board to report bugs?

If you got this then you should have a crash report.

what do you get told when you try to connect with the 2 clients?

If you don't use it, uninstall it, cause your whole system will be unstable.

well, since 0.3.3.0 b17.09 and later, ptokax doesn't accept buggy $Supports from DC clients,
for example rmDC can't acces ptokax anymore because of its buggy $Supports.

btw nmdc v2 is a crappy old client, use DC++ instead. And Zion, its a OP client right, use DCDM++ instead of Zion.
With those changes, you can use 0.3.3.21 :)

Please enable CMDs in Users/Chat tab and post what this clients send... Maybe is bug in PtokaX and maybe is bug in bad protocol support in this clients  Zion is mod of StrongDC++, StrongDC++ is mod CZDC++ and CZDC++ is mod of DC++... nice way to create very buggy client :D

Hi all.

I too am running PtokaX v0.3.3.21 Debug and have noticed a problem. For some unknown reason Users seem to be dropping from my hub and not coming back. This seems to be only happening to non registered users. I am not sure if this is a bug relating to PtokaX or not but I have noticed this alot...

Since they are being dropped straight after Myinfo string, i would assume, max hubs and /or min share.
Title: PtokaX crashes many times
Post by: Paco on 15 September, 2005, 23:15:55
I usually keep PtokaX minimized in SysTray like all the time. But I've noticed that from time to time it stop responding. I try to bring it on the desktop, to activate it clicking on the icon in the systray and it doesn't do anything. It just stand there. and it starts kicking silently all the users. I have to shut it down from the task manager and start it up again. I do not know if it is because of a script or what. That's why I'm posing the debug file so PPK can take a look on it. But it's too long to post here what can I do?. Thanks.

I also tried to take a look inside and I also noticed theese dates but I really don't know what to tell you. maybe from PtpkaX point of view theese ar not crashes.
But I really don't know what to do in this situation that I've described you before.
When a program freezes and stops responding for me it's not clear what is the cause. First I thought it's probably the windows XP I'm using, but when the problem came back over and over again, I think maybe there is a problem when minimizing in systray, I don't know. What do you think?

I found problem in 0.3.3.21 causin deadlock -> PtokaX freeze  :(
Title: I changed something and i think i now now
Post by: Paco on 16 September, 2005, 23:38:57
I didn't used now the options about minimizing in systray and it doesn't crash anymore.
I laso noticed that it has some problem when resizing. It does that very hard. I supose that this combined with restoring from systray could lead to a deadlock, an infinite operation or something. I am a vb programmer and i saw that before. Tell me if i'm right.
Title: No dead-locks in almost 3 days
Post by: Paco on 17 September, 2005, 18:13:34
I disabled the systray option and now I have almost 3 days since I normally use PtokaX without that option and I have to tell you PPK that it has no problem at all. I am now preety sure that it may come from there the dead-lock. Hope now you can figure it out yourself exactly the source. Thanks.

-----------------------------------------------
That was yesterday. I was really happy thinking that I had found the bug. But today it happened the same thing without beeing activated that systray option. Now i really don't know what to say. I'm confused.  ?(
Title: Once again today it crashed
Post by: Paco on 18 September, 2005, 15:37:20
Today after almost 6 hours from the last crash it crashed again. I'm begining to be really concerned.
I heard that PtokaX 0.326 testDrive is more crash free and I think I will downgrade this time.
Only I want to ask if that version 0.326 accepts my LUA5 script that i'm using right now on 0.3321. That's all. Thks.

Nop. only versions above/equal to  0.330 have lua5 support.

it must be a buggy script that causes your crashes.

That type of attiude doesn't help the developers in the slightest.

Please post what scripts you are using. I am a medical student, and if i don't know which part of your body is painful, I cannot diagnose anything. Same goes here.

OK, if you don't want to have topic support, want not to be on Hublist.org (since it does not support $BotINFO), want it to eat much more CPU and a lot more bandwidth, want to downgrade to lua4 versions of scripts and want not to be protected from flooders then feel free.

Title: Fair enough guys
Post by: Paco on 19 September, 2005, 02:29:45
Ok it's fair enough.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I wasn't sarcastic at all my friends. It's not my style and beside I really apreciate PtokaX. I am said as you are every time something it's not working right.
And yes downgrading doesn't help much a developer to progress in his work. But I don' t seem to pinpoint the problem and I need solutions, fast as I can not afford to restart server every 5-6 hours.
As for the scripts if you are a medical student friend bastya_elvtars, I hope you cand find the cure, as my few knowledges doesn't allow me.
For the sake of others PtokaX users I wish it would be a problematic script I messed up. Let's hope so. I'll try to post links to the script as soon as I upload them on a server.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you all for such short notice answears, because I know it was sunday. Thanks again
Title: The scripts links
Post by: Paco on 19 September, 2005, 02:49:11
I succeeded in uploading today the scripts on a server. All of them are coming from this board and are final versions as this date and as I recall. Here are the links:

Trivia Bot 0.6... (http://adasong.iespana.es/triviabot.lua)

Censor Bot (http://adasong.iespana.es/censorbot.lua)

CustomRandomIntroScript (http://adasong.iespana.es/CustomRandomIntroScript.lua)

List Profile (http://adasong.iespana.es/listprofile.lua)

Clean Screen (http://adasong.iespana.es/CleanScreen.lua)

Micro Chatrooms (http://adasong.iespana.es/MicroChatrooms.lua)

OnlineFriends (http://adasong.iespana.es/OnlineFriends.lua)

WebStats (http://adasong.iespana.es/WebStats.lua)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I only hope you have the patience to look through. Some of them are really simple and dummy, others are more complex. Thanks for looking into it.

Iam not a scripter but, i am wondering where are the credits from scripts... as we use scripts, we can keep those..
Title: I tried to delete all influence
Post by: Paco on 19 September, 2005, 10:12:20
I knew that if I'll put inside version, author maybe bastya_elvtars will be influenced by that in analyzing a script or other, so I decided to post for him there just the code, as I completelly striped them of everything else as he should analyze the specific situation. I stripped even my coxde, that I've posted here about a Censor Bot.
I didn't want to start discussions about a script or other, a version or other. The situation in its perspective is that interest me.
I knew from the begining some of you will point me this aspect and I'm thanking you for that, but it wasn't, not even for one second a question of respecting or not the authors. I do respect them a lot as they do a great job every day, I just wanted to give you a chance of just analyzing the scripts without thinking of others aspects.
Thanks and hope I'll have your understanding on this matter.

Easy: disable the scripts one by one, and see what happens. I suggest disabling webstats and/or trivia.
Title: You are right, but...
Post by: Paco on 19 September, 2005, 13:24:09
I thought you would say that my friend. I did something better. I deleted all the scripts and closed the server and then started again the server.

Last time it crashed I had only 2 scripts running: the TRIVIA BOT and the microchatrooms bot, as they are like essentials for me.

Personally i suspect trivia but i'm not well documented and i shall not make an acusation of such kind.

I have read many times here about strange bugs that even the best scripter couldn't understand. I'm hoping is not the case and I'm not dealing with a freaky bug.

Thks. bastya_elvtars for your advices.
Title: After 2 hours it crashed again
Post by: Paco on 19 September, 2005, 16:39:36
After 2 hours without nos scripts at all in the script list, and completely restarted it crashed again. People are sending me messages asking what happens and I'm really upset right now.
What is weird is that for PtokaX this is not a crash, it just stops responding as it is doing something and needs time. But the situation continues forever. And in the debug file everything looks clean.
PPK refered to a deadlock. It feels like it.
The scripts are fine and I thank now to all their authors for understanding.
Untill the problem will be resolved, I'll try to sort things out my way, keeping the server alive one way or another.
Thanks guys for all your help so far.

Title: I expected that question...
Post by: Paco on 19 September, 2005, 18:18:49
I'm running the server on a P4 3.2, 512 Gb. DDR2, Windows XP Pro SP2.
I am investigating as we are speaking if I have a problem with my windows. We shall see.
Since than still no ansewars, only questions.
What is curious is that I had no problems with few users (100 max.). Problems started when I started to receive 200+ users.
And other thing. All the time when Ptoka crashed I was logged in the hub using different clients. Now I'm trying to see what happens if I don't connect at all to the hub from this address.

Are you using netlimiter?

anyway, it could be a setting in ptokax or a combination of settings, could you post the content of your PtokaX.ini ?
Title: Here it is the INI file of PtokaX
Post by: Paco on 19 September, 2005, 21:45:46
I don't know if combinations of PtokaX options could interfere with the clinet beeing used from the same connection.
What I do know is that I have used DC++ 0.674 (server crashed), Strong DC RC10 (server crashed). Strong didn't had the limiter function activated.
Now I'm only using PeerWeb DC++ wich seems more reliable in my situation.
And so far I haven't had no crash in more than 8 hours with scripts running on it (TRIVIA, ChatRooms, Censor).
I'm hoping this will last as with all the problems I've establis yoday a new record of users on the hub and share.

Here it is the PtokaX INI File:
INI file of PtokaX 0.3.3.21 (http://adasong.iespana.es/PtokaX_copy.ini)

Title: Here is the situation now...
Post by: Paco on 20 September, 2005, 12:58:23
After more then 16 hours no crash with PtokaX 0.3.3.21
The secret? Simple.
I am using as client PerrWeb DC++.
I've changed the order of the script, actually I haven't change anything, but before I was using a different order than the one of actual files in the folder Scripts. Now I'm just letting them be in the phisical order they are on the disk.
Also for my 200+ users I've changed the value max users to 2000 so I shouldn't have no problems from here either.
I also added other script so I can test the server in overload situations and I can say so far it works perfect.
In the end I guess it was something misterious that only some1 who knows the real conditions of enviroment and the actual code of PTokaX can explain. (not the case here)
All good so far, keep up the good work guys.  :)
If further problems be sure I'll post them here.

Hello
I have a small question ...
I have a hub whose working under Ptokax 0.326 but i have more and more problems with it.  I want to replace it by the last ptokax 0.3.3.21 but he dont accept all clients (Black DC, ... )  With Zion++ he accept the reg and VIP, but the operator and master are disconnected every time.
With DC++ its ok.
How can i desactivated the blocking of these clients  ?(
Thank you for your answers.

PS : I'm a french user, sorry for my bad english  ;)

dunno how the tags looks like for blackdc and zion++, but if they dont have this in the beginning = <++
then their tag needs to be added to ClientTags.xml.
Title: Try this...
Post by: Paco on 21 September, 2005, 00:33:58
In Tab Rules you have in the right option group called: Users without DC tag.
Normally if you choose there the option Accept you shouldn't have any problems.
I have this option activated also and I receive people with all kinds of clients on the hub, and neither oen of them hasn't complained about not beeing able to connect.
As for the answear of blackwings I didn't knew that aspect.
Do you also know if I can find somewhere a list updated of this client tags?
Title: Conclusion for my problems above
Post by: Paco on 21 September, 2005, 00:48:55
Today I have reached a conclusion about my problem.

I have diagnosticated my computer for software and hardware problems and it's working just fine, full speed.

In the morning the server crashed again.
After that I thaught of doing something new. I minimized the server and I haven't touched it for more then 16 hours.
From time to time I was connecting through PeerWeb DC++ to see if it's working or not.
I had no problems at all with it.
So I guess we are coming back to the discussion about a possible dead lock. Where? As far as I know from my experience so far I recomend to all hub owners of PtokaX 0.3.3.21 to set up the hub options and scripts, to activate the option minimize in systray and to just let it be there, and try not to restore it too many times, because for me the cause consist in event restore, gain focus, resize or something like that, as I don't know as it is refered in the code.

I hope PPK that the problem is a little bit more clear now, and let's hope the solution is simple, as there never is.

Thanks paco...
In the rules, users without DC tags is accepted.
The probleme is that a Z++ client can enter the hub if he was a user, reg or VIP, but if he was an operator or more, he was disconnected.
Moreover, some clients than BDC cant connect the hub :

[00:45] Connecting to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
[00:45] Successfully connected to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
[00:45] Disconnected from Hub.

With a Z++ client, and OP or Master :
[23:08:11] *** Connect?
[23:08:16] This hub is running PtokaX DC Hub 0.3.3.21 [debug] (UpTime: 0 days, 0 hours, 4 minutes)
[23:08:16] Hub Test
[23:08:16] *** Disconnected

Thanks.

BlackDC sends $ClientID or something like it which is unknown. Z++ is buggy, reported before.

No DC tag, does it mean no tag at all, or no DC++ tag aka <++, which doesn't allow users who don't have dc++???

I wasn't asking if BlackDC had a tag, I was asking what the No DC tag function meant, clarify what it meant.

when playing with inbuild http server . we noticed this..

<--CHATLINE14-->

<-- etc. etc. -->

Seem to only give us lines starting with a "special chararacter" .. e.g.
 "@", "_", "+", "!", "^"  etc. etc.

guess it should work just the other way around..

No this is not bug in lua, crash is on this line...
block = HeapAlloc(hLuaHeap, HEAP_NO_SERIALIZE, size);
This code is changed from original lua package, because without heaps it leaking memory :(
It looks more like Windows problem

I faced a lot of problems after releasing v2 resulting stop working on it. As soon as possible, when  I have enough time to test and complete it, v3 is on its way.

Also, 5 MiB mem usage is nothing.. If you think hub is lagging because of IPdbBOt, try disabling DNSLookup ;)Fixed a few IPInfo errors  (Thx Myers for reporting, Mateci for fixing)  on 04.09.2005, v.2.11
Added database cleaner (As requested by Herman) on 10.09.2005, v.2.20
Added a function for showing users from same ISPs on 10.09.2005, v.2.21
Changed IPHistory result structure, now returning last 10 times in date order as default on 10.09.2005, v.2.22
Changed database saving on interval default value to off and default interval to 1 day on 10.09.2005, v.2.23
Changed database saving algorithym on 17.09.2005, v.2.4
Added an autosense mechanism for database cleaner, on 17.09.2005, v.2.5
Fixed lots of stuff, should check the code for differences on 17.09.2005, v.2.6
Added bad ISPs blocking on 22.09.2005, v.2.7

Now I see what we have to expect :)))

especially this is most wanted :
Added: !rangeban , !fullrangeban .

would be nice if we in the future could get
!allowrange
as an alternativ for us who runs hubs in local areas and wants to keep other out

Better use a firewall for that purpose:

allow all to hubip tcp:411 from int_net
allow all to hubip tcp:secondport from int_net
block all to hubip:411
block all to hubip:secondport

See the Deflood tab. Also consider using ActiveChecker.

hink you misunderstood me bastya

I want to set up the hub for onla a few isps wich are accepted for not limiting traffic amongst users
not only for a internal net and its much easier to set this allowed ranges in Ptokax by remote then using a firewall

I think it's not true, at least if you block inbound to a port by default.

take a look at nightlitch dmz script and you see what i want to be inbuilt in ptokax - cant be to hard to add a switch for allow / disallow ipranges

Since the firewall touches a lower layer, it will be far less resource-intensive. PtokaX should NOT act as a firewall.

I don't know this protocol part. But i check PtokaX source and timer for hublist registering is 15 minutes -> that means after any 15 minutes hub send info to hublist how much users have and how much this users share. This is always generated in same way and working without problems on my small hub, must be hublist problem

----
As I see it allowing to ban IP-ranges, Ptokax will act as a firewall so , with your comment it looks as you will remowe the ban ip totally from ptokax - if so fix a script that ban ip's / ip ranges directly in the firewall then

And with an option to ban IP-ranges, it must be possible to redirect banned ip-ranges with reason

I  get this error with my stab bot;

[10:24] _StabBot_pto1.1.lua loaded.
[10:25] Syntax ...Files\0.3.3.21.nt.dbg\scripts\Funscript2.2-NoOps.lua:149: attempt to call global `getn' (a nil value)

i get this error with "THOR";

10:34] Thor.lua loaded.
[10:35] Syntax ...Files\0.3.3.21.nt.dbg\scripts\Funscript2.2-NoOps.lua:149: attempt to call global `getn' (a nil value)

Also, i have the fun script2 2 NO OPs, jokebot, and same nick LUA all on and supposedly running, but the commands for them do not work on my hub wheni am using the client i ahve to log onto the hub, and type them into main chat.

Forgive me if this has been taken care of in another thread. Newb here. Thanks guys! Glad to see another release.

These are LUA4 scripts, and PtokaX supports LUA5 now. This is why these messages appear.

its sometimes hard to se the difference between lua4 and lua5 scripts, would have been much easier if lua5 scripts got an Lua5 extension standard

as an example: scriptname_lua5.lua

I was running PtokaX 0.3.3.21 on an AMD @ 1200 Mhz, 256 DDR, Windows XP SP2 and i realised that PtokaX disconnects users (Connection reseted by peer) ! Is very strange, the server is runing on 100 MBps and the maximum number of users is 200 ! I made this hub for my LAN ! With PtokaX 0.3.3.1 i don't have this problem ! Thanks !

hmm....i have a problem when i add a new script to the hub thats have richtclick menu it will not been shown  ?(  and if i delet a existing script that i can see the richtclick menu it will not be deleted in the hub it seems that either Ptokax or somethingels is freezing the richclick's  ?(  i have tried diffrent clients and the same thing happens...any one have a clue whats wrong ?

and Ptokax is not giving any errors and no syntax error and yes the cripts work if i type in the commands manualy

hope you gouy's understand my problem  :)

Unfortunately this is a protocol limitation. The script cannot flush its own rightclicks, it can only flush the whole rightclick menu which is not good. (AFAIK)

But this is not a PtokaX bug at all.

i Think something is wrong with ptokax ul/dl wiew
compared with DU/meter it seems as it shows only the half of the netload.... this with +600 users.
I have confirmation that DU-meter shows the real netload to...

It show real data sent and received by hub (DC protocol data) as it return winsock... i don't know if is here way to get how much winsock add to this with TCP headers

The problem is, it differs momentarely about 100 kib/s with 600 - 650 users connected especially in upload and thats almost double netload as shown in ptokax

This is the true netload with 600 - 650 users connected:
Period (Date)        Download          Upload   Both Directions

2005-11-01            4,62 GB        14,48 GB          19,10 GB
2005-11-02            4,79 GB        14,13 GB          18,92 GB
2005-11-03            4,64 GB        12,77 GB          17,41 GB
