Title: Board Admin NEEDED
Post by: ??????Hawk?????? on 23 October, 2005, 23:21:32
After a brief conversation with one of the Board  Moderators i was informed they have no rights to do anything but delete/rename threads etc  ..

I think a board of this size Needs some active ADMIN that have the rights to  BAN users like  222.

After Clicking the  TEAM button and looking at the list i see maby  2 or 3 moderators that are active.
( Maby some others are active but not posting . i dont know )

i think its maby time for either ptaczek or OpiumVolage have a serious look at the team member list and and appoint some more ppl to help keep this board clean.. Preferably with rights to ADMIN..

Agree, and the LUA4 part should immediately be archived and closed as I requested before.

You right Hawk

Some post are really shit en is good when that get deleted. Is good to have a active admin in here.

The request of Basta, is good to move the lua4 scripts to a special lua 4 forum.

Agreed, but that 222 , is rather annoying, and the simple fact that hes here, might invite some other annoying guys.

Title: First 10 or so posts of a new user should have challenge-response Turi
Post by: Mardeg on 26 October, 2005, 03:57:06
Somehow we should implement a "parole" period into the php of the boards where a new user must pass a challenge/response test for the first 10 or so posts, to demonstrate that they are actually human and not a bot that is registering just to spam us.

A database of maths problems (6 + 3) linked with anwers (9) could be transformed using php into a variety of natural language methods, such as "When six is added to three the answer in numeric form is:" only giving the poster a certain number of attempts to answer.

To avoid bots simply capturing every question in text form to match answers with, the most important part of this is to display the questions in an uncapturable way.

Pehaps someone that is good with php can convert a javascript tool that I made for hiding email addresses using inline CSS shrunken random-text logos here (http://mardeg.sitesled.com)  into a php question generator. This would easily prevent bots from spamming the forum, and browsers with images disabled would still display the questions.

Isn't the reg verification (with image) enough against these junkies?

Not really, i have noticed on a couple of boards that even then u get someone registering a nick and then using that to send bot messages. I'm not sure if the "bots" do this on their own or if like i just guessed...someone registering nick and then using that for the bot (incl. giving the login details to 3rd party's)
