Title: PtokaX and Valknut DCGUI
Post by: bolamix on 17 March, 2005, 06:00:10
Hi,
Not sure if this should be posted here... mods, please move the thread if you think it belongs somewhere else.

I had a problem with a Valknut dcgui user yesterday (not the 1st time): everyone can get his list and download from him, but he can't download anything from anyone (including filelists).
He can connect to the hub, so all the $Key, $Lock, etc are in order. He is in active mode, with all firewall and router settings correct. None of the scripts I'm running is designed to block anyone from downloading.
I would tend to think the problem lies with PtokaX, as said user is also connected to another hub running Shadow's DCHub, where he has no problem. I'm using the latest PtokaX (dbg version).
So does anyone know whether there are any specific px (or dcgui) settings to enable to allow legitimate, sharing dcgui users to access other users' filelists and download from them? Could it come from the way Valknut sends $Ctm commands? The only messages I see from him in the hub console are $MyInfo's and his chat messages... no $ConnectToMe's at all... I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I had a similiar problem with DCGUI (on Mandrake 10.1)too.
I couldn't get anyone's filelist and the same for them. Everytime I tried to do it, DCGUI would crash (all the settings for the router/firewall were correct).
Till today, I haven't found the reason why it happened with me...

Thx for the feedback plop, so it CAN be made to work... The user who had this problem switched to passive mode so he can at least browse some people's files. But active would be better... I'll try to find out what can be done.
In the meantime I finally installed Ubuntu Linux, and I haven't yet been able to even install valknut, so I'm not pressing charges :P

Nope he's currently using 0.3.2, I'll advise him to upgrade and see if it works better. I got a few linux questions to ask him anyway ;)

Hey again,
I've switched to Linux and installed valknut 0.3.7, and it works like a charm. So it's probably a problem with settings.. Just thought i'd let yall know ;)
