on the networks tab what do i put for  hub address?

Josh_J

you put in your address users will use to connect to your hub. You can just put in an ip address, but you should get a dns service like no-ip to resolve to your ip address so maybe snake.no-ip.com or w/e will point to your ip address.

#2

is that what you are telling me?
have i mentioned i have never done anything like this?
so you might have to give me sometime to understand.

just enter localhost  as Hub Address

but you will have to either know your IP or like Josh said create a dns account (no-ip.com, Dyndns...) to let your users know where to find your hub

i found my ip which is what i am using for now.
i might try getting a no-ip.com name later if that will be safer and easy.
rule # 1 just remember i ain't that familiar with this stuff so explain everything slowly and using small words.
rule # 2 if all else fails it's my fault not yours.
rule # 3 have some fun get dirty and generally enjoy life because it is the living of it that matters.

indeed it'll be safer and easier plus it'll be easier for your users to remembera worded hub address rather than some numbers. no-ip accounts are generally used because many people have a dynamic IP. if you have one you definitely need a no-ip address.

Ok then, I'll try to give you a guide to No-Ip in steps, here we go:

1. go to //www.no-ip.com
2. Up above click Sign-Up Free!
3. Fill out the registration form
4. Login (if you don't require an email confirmation first), your email is the username and password is the same as the one you registered with.
5. Click the button underneath 'Your No-IP' that says 'Hosts/Redirects' then click 'Add'
6. Choose a hostname (the 1st box is somewhat of a subdomain to the dropdown list which is the 2nd box. I recommend using only the domains underneath no-ip free domains as the others will charge some money)
7. Under Host Type choose the 1st option 'DNS Host (A)'
8. Type in your external ip address that others see you as having.
9. Scroll down the page and click 'Create Host'
10. Download the Update Client for the host you just created by going to the top of the page and clicking 'Downloads'.
11. Click the 'Windows' option.
12. Install it and the 'DUC' (Dynamic Upgrade Client) client should open.
13. A dialog should prompt for your email and password you use for your no-ip subdomain.
14. If you added a host they should show here, check the hosts you wish to have updated with your current ip address.
15. If you want this program to update your ip on each startup you should go into options and choose run on startup.

Hint: You can exit out of DUC by clicking the X and it should minimize to tray.

If this doesn't help, I don't know what will  :]
