Title: Please update the French locale
Post by: zapman on 14 December, 2012, 14:45:01
Hi there,

I updated the French translation but please diff it against the previous version before committing: I removed several $ signs after comparing with other translations but we all know Murphy's rules, so... you know, just to make sure I didn't do anything stupid (happens fairly often to yours truly).

Happy sharing!

Words with $ sign are protocol commands.

E.g.
Quote<String Name="DisallowBuggySupports">Disallow clients sending buggy $Supports command</String>
$Supports is a NMDC  (http://nmdc.sourceforge.net/NMDC.html)command, don't translate that.

Best is to use PtokaX translator http://forum.ptokax.org/index.php?topic=8815.0
generate english example with PtokaX /generatexmllanguage
load it to translator, load translation and on left side you see original string and on right side translation  8)

Quote$Supports is a NMDC command, don't translate that.
As the dollar sign was in the original string too it really looked like a command so I didn't translate $Supports; no worries.

That's exactly what I did and FWIW, it works perfectly with Wine. The only thing that is missing is a "Find" feature. You know, you press CTRL-F and can search for an arbitrary string: that would be helpful to translators.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks!
