Title: Security for PtokaX Hub
Post by: DTM on 07 February, 2007, 19:49:25
Hey, guys !

In the last days, to make an Open Hub becomes more and more risky. I think that, for operators, vips etc., there are enough scripts (ex.: hideshare, hideuser etc.).

Which would be the solution, for an owner, that noone can find the IP of the hub, nor through FTP Connect nor through any other programs (even if the hub's name and the port are in the public list)?

And please don't come with the idea of a RegHub. Here, in Germany, there are 50 RegHubs and 5 OpenHubs. I prefer OpenHubs, but...

Do you have some new ideas..suggestions..? (for maintaining the OpenHubs)

Thanks in advance.

PS Sorry, but I didn't know where to place this topic. But here is the most populated  ;D ;D ;D

If you don't know, then put into Offtopic. :-)
Otherwise there is no good way to avoid revealing the IP.

well without IP's there is no internet, but in theory there is a way.
routers can redirect traffic, NAT can do that with hiding the IP behind the redirect.
i never done it but it should be possible, just you need 2 servers.
1) seems to be running the hub from the users point of view.
2) the server behind the router is running the actual hub.
but then again if the number 1 server is captured they can see the IP of the real hub server in the NAT table.
