Hey PPK,

Just came across a nice simple and quick to do idea :D

Can u add a lua User field named 'bKicked' that is used to check if a user was disconnected by ptokax?

My idea behind this is ... Users that get kicked by scripts or kicked by Ptokax can then be determined and there ip loged. Very smart for large servers that need logging, but cant log every users because its to much to filter through when checking (and file looping can take up alot of process with a a log that is over 4MB large!).

Let me know asap, Cheers

hmm, not a bad idea, it could be usefull
Title:
Post by: blackwings on 11 June, 2005, 03:43:11
hopefully a small request :) =

When a client gets disconnected by the ptokax support function, because the client is buggy or when a client gets disconnected if the clients tag isn't in the ClientTags.xml, instead of like saying its a unsupported client, can you add in the ptokax gui a checkbox and and a textbox, so that you could write your own message to this user that gets disconnected for the 2 reasons I mentioned. A message like this one =

*** Your client isn't allowed, use Dc++ = http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/

Title: Stupid me or?
Post by: juda on 13 June, 2005, 11:15:19
Hy ! I tested other script and in the end I found that script work,
just don`t show in-out message to myself...!!!
When the user entr to the hub,in-out mssg are showen only to other users...(user who enter can`t see his message).
This work only in new Ptoka in older versions can user see own message !!! Any idea ?
Title:
Post by: Dessamator on 13 June, 2005, 11:25:52
change the script using this pattern add this:
user:SendData(Botname,outro)

after this :

SendToAll(Botname, outro)
Title: ? error or just small mistake ?

Hy & thanks for advice...I try to change this, but I think that must be in the end
---- SendToAll(Botname, outro)
Maybe is this strange thing related with Ptokax (something change in new version or???)

Any idea what this my be ?   BY
Title:
Post by: Dessamator on 13 June, 2005, 13:04:03
well, in theory its a feature, ppk seems to have done that deliberately(im unsure), the info is sent to everyone(excluding the person whos logging in) , i think that happens because the person hasnt logged in entirely !

either way only ppk knows why, i think he said something about it in another thread!

2nd one doesn't exist yet. Could be handy when ppl put links in the topic!

It could be RC10e, but when users sending there message to PMtoOPs, they don't get any respons. It would be nice if there is....

Keep up the good work PPK! I run now 0.3.3.1 without any probs...!

You don't get it. First of all, a topic can be longer then can be displayed in the client... Second, if someone put this link in the topic:

"Hi! Check this site: http://frontpage.fok.nl/nieuws/54966 "

(just an example)... then !topic is much easier!! *Click*

hmm, indeed good point, but why not just send a banner? its simpler for those cases , whats the use of adding a big topic if the ppl cant see it ???

A banner mostly can't be changed by users... and has a timer on it... That's why I think this 5 lines  can be added (in my oppinion)

And I request this because it ppl in my hub put links in the topic...

try this:

sBot = "Topic_Bot"

sTopic = frmHub:GetHubTopic()

function ChatArrival(curUser, sData)
local s,e,cmd = string.find( sData, "^%b<>%s+(%S+)%s*(%S*)|$" )

change this
curUser:SendData(sBot, sTopic)

to this ::

curUser:SendData(sBot,frmHub:GetHubTopic() )

since ur using the that api only once no need to put it in a variable !

I'm not satistied with 0.3.3.1 because it automaticly disconnects users with rmDC++
I know it's a buggy client, but a lot of my friends are using it, including me. It would be better if this feature could be turned off (allow/not allow users using rmDC++)
Title:
Post by: Dessamator on 14 June, 2005, 13:55:50
well, u have 2 solutions use a script to send them a msg to change their buggy clients, or go back to a previous version of ptokax which allowed that, because that request has been made b4, and if i remember correctly ,
PPK didnt change anything !
Title:
Post by: Ubikk on 14 June, 2005, 14:05:15
atm i use ptokax 0.3.3.0 b17.03 and it works just fine with buggy clients :D
You dont understant... i dont want the users to change their buggy clients... all i want is a way to keep these clients... all the users from my hub are from the same local network and everything works fine even with those clients. If we decide to change them it should be OUR option and not the hubsoft's ... this is just annoying  :(
Wich is the last PtokaX version that allows rmDC++ clients?

hmm, well, no1 forced u to change anything, either way the last version, i think was 17.08 just test it and find out

It is NOT the hubs soft  ..  you should be taking this up with the Creator of Said  " BUGGY Clients "  NOT the creator or Ptokax.

PPK is doing a Great Job here and shouldnt be asked to allow for these clients..

Post by: ruspant on 14 June, 2005, 18:52:42
I've got a nasty someone who enjoys himself flooding my hub with connections a couple of time a day...
The problem is  ptokax (0.3.3.1 dbg) crashes any time.

I've set a TempBan on "New Connection from same IP" with a rate of 10 on 60 secs.
The problem is that the ip is banned but since the flood continues, the message still comes out and then the hub falls.

Any hints ?

You dont understant... i dont want the users to change their buggy clients... all i want is a way to keep these clients... all the users from my hub are from the same local network and everything works fine even with those clients. If we decide to change them it should be OUR option and not the hubsoft's  ... this is just annoying  :(
Wich is the last PtokaX version that allows rmDC++ clients?

It is NOT the hubs soft  ..  you should be taking this up with the Creator of Said  " BUGGY Clients "  NOT the creator or Ptokax.

PPK is doing a Great Job here and shouldnt be asked to allow for these clients..

HAWK

You dont understand :)
What I meant was that it should be the admin's decission if his hub will allow rmDC users or not ! It seems fair to me :(

PtokaX is DC hub and DC hub is for DC clients, if client is not DC compatible then is not allowed :P

indeed, another thing, why does it emulate other dc clients, if it was a true dc client, it wouldnt have to emulate, it could use its own ! in theory

QuotermDC++ discontinued. Forum Closed.
Every good thing has to end.
You can still download rmDC++ on #####.####.###

Greets to all that supported us. All users, sourcecode-providers, phreakers, our families.
We truly loved you all.

Official statement by coder RM. :
I am terribly sorry, but since forum has been hacked, I changed my idea to everything
and rmDC++ project will be stopped forever. I don't have many strength to continue
and to fix all bugs. It's true that I copied everything from StrongDC++ and CZDC++
except some little stuff which is very buggy. So use some alternate client.

Thanks for everything!

There you got a good point... I don't even know this client, or the existance...

Regulair users can use DC++... wouldn't be that big problem, would it...

You guys still don't understant...
I already knew this information about rmDC++. I know it's a very buggy clients and the fact that other clients are better.
The reason why me and some friends of mine still user this program is our concern. Users from my hub including the admin (that's me) would like to continue using rmDC until a better version of Strong DC will appear.
PtokaX shouldn't interdict any clients... the admin should if he feels that's a right thing to do for his users.
I am the admin.. i have decided to keep rmDC users on my hub.. so, what can I do about that ?  Absolutely nothing...   X(

u do theres freedom of choice, u can choose another hubsoft, u can refrain from upgrading to the newest version, you can do what ttb suggested and many many other choices !

sorry.. i'm not angry... :)
Anyway, I agree with you... rmDC is the problem, not PtokaX. I will stop from upgrading my hubsoft until I'll get a decent version of Strong DC.

P.S: I love PtokaX to much, so I can't just use another hubsoft  :D

Why not accept that rmDC is a illegal buggy pile of shit, and just upgrade to a decent client. :) hehe.  As for Strong DC, it's not hard to get either the Release builds or CVS ones. :)

Well.. I agree with that. DCDM++ is THE client for me :P Btw Pothead, is the searchpart I requested in the new DCDM?

I already have strong dc cvs114.. it's just that i'm not satisfied with this progam yet..  it still need some improvments ;)
Anyway... until i get what i'll want from a dc client, i'll continue to use rmDC :) Anyway, today i'll test DCDM++ .. who knows.. maybe i'll get lucky :)

P.S: i already know rmDC is a buggy pile of shit :D but i have my reasons

because it has multi download right :P personally I think multi-source download clients just ruins it for everyone, because you take some of several peoples upload, which gives less to others. It maybe ok when 1 user has it, but when there are several or many, everyone upload gets screwed. So really, change to a better client, like dcdm++ and for non ops, dc++.

delete it, it's detected as spyware by mcaffee and its known to be infected with spyware, also it's not opensource ;)

Only thing which has been done so far since the release is the fix Gandalf posted for the Column order bug (the column stuff is CZDC code, but CZDC doesn't have that bug ?( ).
http://www.imperialnet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1792

As for autosearch, Sulan doesn't want this in DCDM, because of memory leaks from searching in 0.401. ?(

Leechers don't generally like DCDM, for more reason than one.  :] You need improvements in Strong ? It's better than rmDC, but you still need improvements ? Okay then, whatever. ?(
Have a look at other leecher clients, like Reverse Connect, LDC, zDC, RCDM++.  May suit you better. :)

all this trouble because of smilies, thats really interesting, use msn messenger or something, ur forgetting that one of dc's primary task is download and not chatting :), and Ptokax just facilitates that task !

PPK, Ptokax should obviously listen to winsock connections to recognize the incoming IP...
It would be nice if ptokax could send the flooder IP to an IP blocking app (FW).
Now I've got 2 problems:
1) how could ptokax invoke external commands ?
2) what kind of FW cound accept a new blocking rule coming from a command line ?

Obviously I'm using my fantasy trying to help you to find new solutions.  I don't actually know if this way should go :P

Most of italian connection uses dynamic IP assignements so firewalling sets a really short time solution...

I'm also wondering about an IP filtering driver (protowall-like) linked by ptokax, which could also have a low level ban list ... but i guess it's a hard fantasy  :D

Best regards

How do you want to use PtokaX without using winsock  ?( :D But you got point, nl_lsp.dll is not windows dll... now only find wtf is this and kill it because i don't have this dll in my system and here PtokaX not crash on connection flood :]

And netlimiter (thx Pothead to kick me to find where is problem) do it too and crashing your PtokaX :D Maybe is time for you to use another app instead of buglimiter :] PtokaX is not alone who is crashed by netlimiter, for example from DC ... StrongDC++ have with this problem too and if you use google then you find more other apps having this problems because netlimiter  X(

Don't get me wrong .. the users from my hub are completly satisfied with the download part ;) but fortunately they are very active and lots of them use rmDC++ that's why they like their chat to be as pleasent as possible... anyway.. i suggest ending the rmDC problem here... (this is a topic about PtokaX anyway...) i will upgrade to strongdc soon .. so i guess the "block rmdc client" option wont bug me anymore  :D

I just hope that in the near future PtokaX developers won't block StrongDC as well..

I dont think so. strongdc++ doesn't have buggy support/myinfo, so their shouldn't be a reason for future version of ptokax to block strongdc++
Title:

I'm using netlimiter 'cause it's quite useful for limiting other apps not Ptokax  :))
I've got no problem in the past using it.
I will test some more and if the problem is the badwidth limiting sw, I simply will not use it anymore.

Obviously there's no way to avoid winsock !  :D  I let my fantasy run too fast, wondering about a sort of inbuilt FW :P ...  plz don't mind ehehe

thx a lot for your prompt reply, always the first in line

StrongDC++ as CZDC++ mod use my source (and my bugs :D ), release own source and is in active developing... is not problem if i find bug to report it (or fix it if is my bug) and see it fast fixed in Strong ;) And btw StrongDC++ work very good with PtokaX and PtokaX with it use less badwith than with DC++ :]

From the script txt file..
getHubVersion() -- Return appname and version like name, ver = getHubVersion() -> name = "PtokaX", ver = "0.3.3.1"
So this is how you use it...
px,ver = getHubVersion()
SendToAll(tConfig.Bot.Name, "This hub [" ..HubName.. "] runs MadSecurity " ..Version.. " on " ..px.. " "..ver) return 1

ok, if the bold changes in the 0.3.3.1 changelog is the only difference to 17.09b, then 17.09 is what I chose. I have already downloaded it :)

Some questions and stuff:
- Make the "Minimize om startup" work
- Could u add a CLS button in ScriptEditor window?
- Add so the bolder, between the ScriptEditor and the SyntaxBox, position is saved on exit
- If u change the windows size from the top and drag it down the hole window moves. The same it from left to right
- If u change the window size to bigger and then drag the ScriptEditor bolder as high as it goes. And then resize the PX window to as small as it gets. The bolder don't follow and desapear.
- Is it posseble to change the "Restart Scripts" button to a "Restart Scripts/TXT" button
- Add so the hubname is updated to the users when u change the hubname with a command. (I use RoboCop command)
- Add multi host. Like "2nd ports"
- Add a Stat Window that showes the same info that !stats do

This one is harder to explane, but I will give it a try.
- Perfect columns in lua if posseble
Some function to make perfect columns in scripts. Useful in lists etc
One ide is a function so it count tabs from the "left-beginning" and not from the "left-last-text"
Example:Some Texts The scripts insert 4 tabs and lands here
_________Some Texts The scripts insert 4 tabs and lands here
________________Some Texts The scripts insert 4 tabs and lands here
The script should count from before "Some" on the left...
I hope u understand what I mean. :)

Thanks //Star

This is slightly hard, as it's got to find out what Font the user has set, and change the spacing according to that.  For every user.  Personally i don't think it's possible (even though it would be a very nice touch).

This one will cause PtokaX use CPU more so it will not be implemented (cos once I asked the same and got that logical answer)

Ok. Maybe a buttun to update the info then. And not AutoUpdate it. This sholdn't take any CPU without auto-update

hmm, indeed i agree, ptokax doesnt know what font's users use, and i dont think it can find out, so i doubt it can be done

You seem to miss the point.  Type sommit in Times New Roman, and get the spacing all perfect.  Then change the font type to Courrier.

If you !ping, you cannot make sure that host is down, he might have disabled outgoing ICMP echo replies, OR disabled incoming ICMP echo requests.

-- // edit

Either way, it is NOT down, just you cannot ping it. Also goes for traceroute, only thing is to nmap the host, but that's a risky thing, because nmap does portscans that many firewalls ban. Only way to detect that host is up (as you want hubserver as up) to send a SYN flagged packet to his hub port. If the port seems open, the hubsoft is up, which is the important part for you. :)

bastya_elvtars: I was more thinking to show the speed from the hub to the user in the !ping command

PKK: Request a !showscript command that list the scripts and if they are on or off.

And it whould be nice to number the scripts. And then u can just use !startscript and so on...

Add a 2:nd Hub Address square.
Where u can type the 2:nd host or several hosts.

Like it is in 2:nd Port square

Thanks //Star
Title:
Post by: bastya_elvtars on 21 June, 2005, 12:20:33
It is not needed as the hostname is always resolved and connection is made to IP. The first hosntname is only resolved for making sure there is proper net connection and the hostname is really available. You can assign many hostnames to a sigle IP.

Yes but listen is set to IP address.. do you really have more hosts with more IPs ?(
Title:
Post by: Star on 21 June, 2005, 16:09:35
Ok.. then I don't need this thing!

So if I just write my main host in PX and then chack the box "listen only on this address" I can connect to the hub with other addresses that point to the same IP. Right?

Hey PPK,

Can u make !startscript return an error message back if the script has an error starting?

Something like:

*** Error starting script Script.lua: [14:46] Syntax ...ocuments and Settings\Corayzon\Desktop\Perfect cSlave\scripts\Script.lua:1: unexpected symbol near `1'

Cheers
Title:
Post by: bastya_elvtars on 23 June, 2005, 14:37:12
That can be done through loadfile, as it returns the error AFAIK.

local _,err=loadfile("script.lua") if err then print(err) end
Just a tiny ex.

but this can be done with a script.
The point of ptokax is to be efficient as standard- and it does this very well. Then each hub owner can degrade this efficiency with scripting to his or her liking. :)) heheheee.

It's more simple to have it in PtokaX and not in a script. And it's reduce the scripts. I think this is a basic thing that should be in PX as standard.. But thats just my opinion.

ptokax in a box u say, just who is going to select the boxed goodies, will there be voting?, and having boxed goodies makes it less likely to have mods based on the current goodie, furthermore there is more chance of bugs, and harder to debug since its compiled !

PPK is right. Although this would still be a script so not really "hub in a box"- just hub with a script included in package.
Still i dont see the point myself. Just as easy to search this forum for scripts that are required. This makes nearly every hub different- have its own character. Who wants to all have the same? Oh yeah ynhub users heheheee.
Oh and Beer----- maybe i have a problem with my eyes- maybe im blind. Or partially sighted, or elderly. :)
Or stoned. Or all of the above.

It is BAD practise to close windows That way.

Close all your apps first, that way you wont suffer any loss..

If you want a hub in a box then go with what wegface posted.

Ptokax is great as it is and gets better with each release, The Deflood Section was a great addition BUT anything else should be left to Scripts..

PPK,

Stuff my last request for saving and loading functions in the lua scripts...
Just add a lua script function frmHub:Quit() that closes ptokax properly so i dont have
to use io.exit(). Because io.exit() doesnt call the Ptokax thread to close. It kills the process ( Meaning nothing is saved =[ ) :/

Hi PPK. just a tiny thing.
When I write a space before the hub name in PX... the space is not being saved on exit. And a have a space before my hubname. Can u fix this, whould be nice?

//Thanks Star

Edit: And how do I make this go away? "Type !help to see the available commands for your profile." Maybe a on/off option for this in PX?
Edit2: !+-/* This is the default prefixes in PX.. but the * prefix not working.

This error is extremly annoying.
I've set the maximum connections from same IP to 500/1 sec but it still gives me the error.
Everyone on my little hub (avg 40-60 users) is very annoyied and I'm starting to lose them because of this...
Any suggestions on what can I do?

Some function to make perfect columns in scripts. Useful in lists etc
Just an idea, but try using tabs ( \t ) to sort out your spacing. ;)

For this is MaxLogins setting in lua.ini (from lua SetMaxLogins(number)).

You may want to check your RoboCop settings those that might cause that error, such as 'Modes' on the profile tab of RC.

I dont use Robocop.. The only security script i use is Guarding 0.3.1

P.S: MaxLogins is set to 500

Post by: UwV on 09 July, 2005, 12:46:43
I was just wondering if it would be too much trouble to make an extra option/checkbox "send to all"  to show the textfiles to all users and not only to the user using the command ....

would be  8)  imo ..

yea sure, i can use a script i know,.. but since it is in there, it would be nice...

well then use the remote desktop from your computer to start stop the hub on the server...

Otherwise there r also aome tools around to make your own windows services and with one of them (i'm not sure which one though) you can also start ptokax as a service

true , but it if possible to make ptokax a service
whil be more stable in my opinion

a command to restart pc from ptokax ,
it not necessary in my opinion becaus when make a
server ... everybody whant to have a bigest up time
and to minimize the possibilitiy to someone else
to restart his server

indeed, we'll just have to wait and see, ptokax to run as a service would be nice, and so would socket support .

It should be blocked by Ptokax that keyusers cannot be kicked/banned
as long they are regged ,, if u delreg - then its ok to boot them

Hi guys, dcdm opchat commands doesnt seem to work with 0.3.3.1 (ie -help -info -reportspeed etc, sent to opchat) , If I switch back to  0.3.3.0 17.09 they are working again.
Title:
Post by: PPK on 29 July, 2005, 15:51:55
PtokaX have nothing to do with DCDM and not have any support for DCDM commands...
Title:
Post by: Pothead on 29 July, 2005, 16:07:47
This isn't a problem with either.  PtokaX has stopped wasting bandwidth on sending you stuff which you send to it.
Using 0.3.3.1 and typing one of them commands i see a message from every OP who's client supports them, except my own.
Title:
Post by: exlepra on 29 July, 2005, 16:31:36
I know ptokax has nothing to do with dcdm commands, but something had to be changed, because with older versions the dcdm client listens/reacts properly to the commands entered to opchat while with 0.3.3.1 nothing happens.

But I think I found a strange thing which could be leading to find the problem:
I started a hub on local pc, and made a few op accounts, logged in to the hub with 2 clients as op, and what a surprise in the opchat every client only sees their own message in the opchat but nothing from the other typing, back to 0.3.3.0 and opchat works like before.

In my hub the dcdm client is on the same machine as the hubsoft, for a test logged in with the dcdm client from another ip and it is working.

So lets forget about the dcdm, it looks like 0.3.3.1 doesnt "like" the clients  from the same PC/IP where the hubsoft is.

Post by: exlepra on 29 July, 2005, 16:54:56
LOL guys, sorry for being lamer :)

changelog:
Added: Checkbox to profile manager to enable OpChat per profiles.

A few checkboxes had to be clicked and problem solved :)

Though it was funny that the we didnt realize the opchat wasnt working, perhaps it was due to that ops usually use the vipchat  and very seldom talk on opchat .
