Title: better script editor in ptokax
Post by: Dessamator on 16 March, 2005, 18:01:18
hmm ppk, could u make the script editor a little better, i use it for changing the scripts but when the ptokax refers to a line, i have to go to notepad, and use ctrl+g, mayb u could include a little button to do or just add the shortcut, and if ur in a good mood u could add "search and replace", :D

Use EditPlus, EMEditor or PSPad for these purposes. Much better (syntax highlighting etc.)

well ok ill use those the thing is, its tiresome to move between ptokax and the the editors, thats the main reason why i dont use notepad that often, but thnx anyways!

If you take on scripting try an editor that's ment to do it ... the Ptx Script Editor is somewhat useless bytes imho...
I wouldn't mind seeing it removed ...

You can integrate debugging (lua/luac) into EditPlus. Gonna send a screenshot if you want.

tools -> preferences -> files -> templates -> add

menu: PtokaX 0.3.3.0 b16 and later
filepath: paht to that lua file

then you will find a new entry in your new file menu

For all who are interested, there is a freeware IDE made just for LUA 5.0. It's called LuaIDE and you can find it here:

http://www.gorlice.net.pl/~rybak/luaide/

Bad thing is it's abandoned for over a year and I've encountered a pretty annoying bug on my slower computer - LuaIDE keeps eating more and more power of my processor until the system is useless and the application needs to be restarted. This doesn't happen on my faster computer though =)
