Title: MAC address bans
Post by: bastya_elvtars on 01 November, 2007, 10:03:54
PtokaX is not aware of MAC addresses so banning them in it is impossible. Moreover, MAC addresses do not resolve over routers so unless you run an LAN hub, your computer, your operating system won't be aware of 99.99999% of your users' MAC addresses as well.
As a matter of fact, doing any filtering based upon MAC addresses is a false sense of security since they can easily be changed.

Ip address & mac address security are used mostly & only in LAN. So, Only LAN Admins can understand this issue.
coz ip changing is very easy in internal network.

I don't think it is impossible to bind mac & ip address to a user nick.
I have already requested for it & they had rejected my request.
