Common Guys!
This is very important for me and my friend's HUB...
Any help will be apreciated!!!

there isint such a thing as hub hosting, because hubs take a lot of memory from PC.

I dont know ifyou guys have the same but here in switzerland, you can "rent a server" (you get your own node) where you can insert your own hardware and let it be hooked up to the Company's Backbone.

There it is possible to install a hub as long as one keeps the traffic/month in sight. Some Hoster's dont allow free traffic over a certain size.

Now thats all i know about this ^^

something like that yes. You register an address to your name and then you have your "rented rack server" running on that address. Also you have the possibility to add new disks to add space.
So you can do (more or less) whatever you want with it.

I know a couple of people here who have their hub (verlihub) running like that. But ptokax wouldnt be a problem either as here you get a remote desktop access tool to configure your server settings ^^

It's not so much memory!
with 100 ppl in my hub the HUB takes 39 Mb of RAM...
not too much.
for a Server that will host the HUB 39 Mb is just a laught
probobly a deasent Server has 1~4 GB of RAM

What really important is Bandwight!

plop

google for "dedicated server".
the prob isn't the hardware you can get on those, it's the bandwidth.
mostly you get only 10-20 GB per month, which is far from enough.
for example 4000 users on verlihub takes about 40GB of traffic per day.
with 20 GB traffic per month you could host a hub for less then 100 users on verli (63 on ptokax) with 20 GB upload per month.

lol...
i won't find anything less the 150$/year

...Wait, how then i'm hosting 100 user right now with my current connection [ADSL]=768/96?

Psycho_Chihuahua

it's not the speed they charge it's the Traffic of Data that costs

Like say the Provider gives you a Transfer of 20 Gigs a month, after you've reached thos 20 Gigs of Transfer each Megabyte costs extra.... that's what plop said

But there was a company in switz (Zurich) that did a Hardware Hosting (you buy disks there and rent a rack node (gets configured to your domain)

But stuff like that costs of course, so you would be better off running the Hub from your home.

Use some old Hardware and put together a small server for te hub or something like that, then you still have your pc to do what you want ^^ thats what i do buti have a 768/640 dsl.

QuoteUse some old Hardware and put together a small server for te hub or something like that, then you still have your pc to do what you want

That's Exacly what i did, lol

But the Problem is with my current connection
It's not possible for the HUB to grow :(

AND, i am UT2004 Lover...So playing online it's not that possible, it KILLs the ping :(
