The new European Parliament directive on Intellectual Property made Jove stop development of Aquila DC Hub - temporarily or for good? Who knows?
And who knows what effect this directive will have on PtokaX and scripts? Kinda freaking.

Everything could have been anything else and it would have just as much meaning.

well i hope the European Parliament get there act together. Cause its not the Hub thats "illegal" its certain things that get shared within them. I cant see a Hub Developer get sued for that if he/she puts a note in the disclaimer. Otherwise a VCR should also be forbidden for making copys of films on tv - bottles down to the same or not? ;)

This is why people invented those "response-redirecting" messages like "author not responsible in that case when the program's used for copyright violation"...
If the hub can be used for infringement (because it has the DC protocol) then what about clients?
It's the same as buying a knife in a store... It has legal purpose of course, but it can AID crime acts (similiar to DC protocol aiding infringement). So let's sue the maker of the knife because they made it...
This would be a logical paradox, and even if they above think this seriously, then of couse, there are still those messages mentioned above...

Somebody beated me with ~40 secs  :P

Wouldn't that law effect all programs that enables exchange of files.. Messenger, Mailservers, ftp servers etc etc?

Don't know, but until this is clarified, Aquila development is stopped.

Ok ive sat here and read all through this topic and read the post that Jove wrote on his forum.
European Parliament <----- what a joke for s start  ;D so i guess they will be taking google, yahoo, microsoft and all other search engines to court because their search engines 'can' lead you to the software or even in direct contact with download sites for almost anything copyright  ;D wow gonna be strange seeing all those search engines disapear from the net lol also ALL operating systems have p2p capabilities inbuilt into them as standard practice.
Looks like they will also have to stop adding file transfers within MSN messenger, AIM, Yahoo Messenger and all other similar messengers lol WOW this is gonna be fun  ;D ;D ;D  makes you kinda wonder what the internet is going to be like after the 'European Parliament' has finnished fooking it up  :o any bets they will lose more than they are making from it now  ;D If they believe that by making up new stupid rules will make people stop sharing files and rush out to buy it from shops then they are wrong 'not at those prices we wont'. Isnt it funny when an new release dont sell too well then jump strait onto the p2p community and start pointing fingers  ??? yup lets blame p2p and pay the 'European Parliament' to make up some laws  ::)  on a personal note: the more they pick on the p2p community the more i will NOT buy anything from the stores and that attitude is carching on everywhere now  ;D  we'll have to start using the mail  ;D
Would be nice to see the Aquila hubsoft back in full swing again sometime in the future as this is a hub i havent yet tried thus its a shame to see anything DC related come to an end  :(
