Title: pc intruding signatures
Post by: dvxjunkie on 13 November, 2003, 22:36:59
I do not appriciate other furum users informing me in thier signature that they know my ip, isp, browser name, and my operating system. and that is NOT all that site can do either. I dont think this type of privacy invasion belongs here in this forum. It serves no purpose other than spooking people and making fellow forum members uncomfortable.

You are the only one there can see it. That's is just a script showing your information and no one else but you can see it  :D

I know ive been to the site and read all the info but i still find it irritating and many others at other forums do too, especially average users seeing it for first time. I know a signature is not genrally worth freaking out about about, and that the info is genrally harmless but the host site CAN do other things with this and that thought tends to linger a little. So me personally I dont like it much.

A bit off topic maybe, but u should all test your firewalls using this site: Shields UP!! (https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2)

"The Internet's quickest, most popular, reliable and trusted, free Internet security checkup and information service. And now in its Port Authority Edition, it's also the most powerful and complete. Check your system here, and begin learning about using the Internet safely."

It's just great :) My Firewall is now quite good, thanks to the tests of my firewall from there, it's free.

I've secured several things in my sygate & router thanks to that site, stealthed some ports etc.

ok turbo lesson firewalling, doesn't work on all routers.
check if you can set a default server, if yes point this 2 a not used ip.
as a result your firewall only has 2 secure the routed ports, the rest is stealth/dead.
