Started a new thread with a more proper thread name, so that people will post bugs in the same thread.

Anyway, I have noticed a wierd bug in the !ban command.

When I ban a user with this username =
!ban kodrr

I get this in the banlist (I have masked my ip) =
***.***.***.***            kodrr
kodrr                               ***.***.***.***

BUT if I ban a user with this username =
!ban lodrr

I only get this =
***.***.***.***            lodrr

The only difference in those bans was the first letter in the username, so its a really wierd bug.
To be sure that this was a ptokax bug, I removed all scripts and remade the test and I still get the same result when I do it.

Is not bug is feature... if user is registered then is banned by ip and by nick (first case, is 2 times in banlist) if user is not registered then is banned only ip .. or something like this. Banlist really need rewrite

maybe thats why, maybe u downloaded the wrong ptokax version, u might have downloaded the one for win2000/xp :)
Ignorance is Bliss.

Win 9x have some problems with Richedit (this is used for text in about) i have reported problems from CZDC++ users too (CZDC++ use Richedit for chat)... i don't know why but for some users is not working, because win 9x have bad riched20.dll  :( Try this one, replace with it old one in windows\system (or maybe windows\system32) :)

Crashed when exactly renaming an users nick but there was a regged account named the same. PtokaX said it conflicted and it will be deleted; but deleted all the user registry.
Do you need an advanced user handling script? Download UserBekcisi today (Latest Edit)
Features: User + ISP + GeoIP database, user info + share checking and many more...

Where you rename it ??? Gui or script ?

Where it said ???

As before you debug.log not contains usefull info for me :(

// EDIT
Find two bugs:
first in renaming in gui... it really allow to rename to already exist nick.
second in loading of registered users it show message "use exist, delete" but add user to gui.

But i don't find any crash, and not lost reglist

I am renaming it from GUI. Gives no errors. Close down PtokaX. Load it again. Warns about user exist, so it'll delete but it doesnt. After a while, get crashed.

Found an exploit PPK...

Login as a user that is a op 3 times and u get banned. But because their an operator the same address is still allowed to login and attempt the operators password!!!!!!!!

VERY VERY BAD!

This means asswholes can write password cracking applications to get operator passwords.

After putting this to test i cracked an op password that was 6 (lower case, no number) chars long over night!

----
One way to overcome this would be to add a temphardbanlist, where ip address's in this list cant attempt a login. And then have a setting in the gui that sets the time the temphardban lasts.

Dessamator

thats not an exploit, its an option in ptokax, u can enable or disable it !

I know this long time, but here is no way to fix it with actual banlist X(
And always don't have knowledge to make new one ... in actual PtokaX is my try to make fast hashed (nickbanlist will be done in same way) reglist and always is buggy and cause PtokaX crashes :(

lmao! Im saying i can crack the passwords.. Turning off the ban on the 3x bad pass only helps it to be exploited!

To bad Ptokax isnt in .Net i say! Most of these problems can be easerly sorted with the framework api. Its hashtable would server a treat for the sounds of what u say

Dessamator

i was refering to the "enter hub if ip banned" on ptokax's profile manager

Hey PPk.

Anychance that u can make ptokax send $MyINFO for the hubbot before new user connected is called?

My reason behind this is if u add to a scripts newuserconnect function User:SendData("$To: " .. User.sName .. " From: " .. sHubBot ....... )

u allmost allways get a result in the main chat like so in dc++:

Private message from Ptokax:

I would prefer not to have to send "$MyINFO " .. sHubBot from the script because ptokax will double up the send waisting bandwidth!

Cheers, Matt
