Title: changing usernames
Post by: SaintSinner on 11 November, 2003, 19:16:33
ok im dont know where to post this but here goes

is there a way to dynamically change a username while he is connected to your hub for instance:
if i want my vips or ops to have
[S-Vip]name
[S-Op]name
only when they come to my hub, depending on their profile, it will give them that tag.....becouse if one of my vips wants to go to another hub hey will have to change their names to go to that hub and then change it back when they come to mine..i know it is not the end of the world but it would be a great feature....i know i am not the only one that has this.
i dont know it can be scripted or it involves the hubsoftware...but can it be done?

hmmm... I think that shouldn't be a prob if they use DC++ - They just have fill out the field indetification in the favorites & insert teier name with tag in there, in the normal setting they can let the nick without tag..

Hope this will help..

i tryed something like that with dc++k on yhub but the result was a disconnect.
i was trying 2 fool the opchat by sending the reports from K with a altered nick in the hope i could see them 2.
haven't tryed it on ptokax yet, but i gues it'll have the same result.
i know there was a small bug in 1 of the dcgui releases witch had the 1st option of using multiple nicks like dc++.
the result of this bug was that on rare ocasions the wrong nick was send and you couldn't download from them (try again and it did work).
same result can show up if you try 2 use a script 2 alter the nick of the user.
tricky stuff, best would be 2 convince the users 2 start using dc++/dcgui 0.2.20+
