Post by: plop on 26 January, 2004, 12:28:43
managed 2 get some life in my email.
webmail started 2 work after a login time of more then 1 minute.
also partialy died and resurected again and partialy died again and resurected again.
there were over 9300 email in it when i started and around 8200 the settings went crazy.
but a relogon solved that.
around 7400 i got the error that my username/password was wrong.
after some well earned rest it came alive again.
got 7219 email left 2 check. lol

Maybe try to use Mc Affee spamkiller Plop. It works very good. It gives a sound when spammail is detected. It's easy to use

problem doesn't lay's in my mailserver or mailclient nor in the anti spam.
i tryed outlook/thunderbird/emailremove and a couple more clients and even telnet all show 0 msg on login on pop3.
it's the mailserver from my isp which chokes on it.
it started the moment they migrated 2 this new mailserver software (teapot/exim).
during the transfer my box grew 2 big allready.
in the past they were running the same software as i use and that works brilliantly, but guess it got 2 expensive as teapot is part of the linux licence.

brrr sounds on every spam mail.
do you know how many times that goes off here if i would use that. lol
my mailserver supports a spam blocker using MAPS/RBL/ORDB + heuristic spam filtering + and (currently not used) bayesian classification (you can learn it 2 detect more spams) and finaly blacklisting.
and in the end thunderbird (my mailclient) also has this bayesian filter, just mark it as spam and you'll never see it again.

4215 2 go. lol

Qurb

I buyed this program 3 days ago (yes buyed) and yes im wiping my ass with mcafee and all the other so called spamkillers after been using this one for some days. You guys really have to try this one if u are having a compatible mail prog. Im laughing at my 150 spams a day now, this one really does the job getting rid of them and letting serious mail through.  :D

PC Magazine Best of 2003

"Qurb is the only spam fighter we've seen that stops 100 percent of junk e-mail straight out of the box. Impressive? You bet."
CNET product review, March 25, 2003

"Most anti-spam tools try to identify spam by looking at various characteristics. Qurb takes a thoroughly different and differently thorough approach."

all very nice tools but as i sayd before, totaly useless now.
all i got 2 the moment 2 empty the mailbox is the webmail from my isp, and even that screws up.
but i'm down 2 150 emails.
pop starts 2 show some life again.
but definatly gone do some more complaining 2morrow, 150 is nothing and still it f*cks up.
on avarage i recieve about 400 emails a day, 50-75 from this forum, a bunch from some mailing lists and other forums.
the rest is all junk and for about 25 emails left, all filtered by the mailserver.
i must have the most abused domain in the netherlands, but on the other hand really cool as i reguarly recieve email for the plop all the belgium and dutch ppl know. lol
