LOLOL :D
lol
nice one :D
LOL!!! Thats the fact with the windows, that it has to be rebooted every 2 hrs.
LOoOL
isn't that a windows standard :D
Especially with Win98, i used to get Plops avatar popin up on my screen every 2 hrs
ROFL
hey i agree with windows being crap an all, but windows 98 was way so much better then all the windows ever done, if you ever got the blue screen, it was a user fault not comp ;)
or possible damage to hardware etc, so hardware failure
with the first version of windows 98 you even get a blue screen if you pull out the floppy too fast.

yep totally true lol it also crashed on live tv hahah :)
but b was very stable, and was the best windows and still is my fav windows os
I don?t understand what people have against windows XP, everyone i?m talking to says it a peace of crap, but i have never had any problems with it

98 is not a year here, it's the percentage of how much more unstable it is.

maby because you never tryed another os. ?
my record for xp is nearly 2 months before it totaly died, my laptop is running on freebsd for over 1.5 years and never ever gave a kernel panic (bosd on linux/bsd).
my windows servers start 2 act weird after 9 day's uptime, dns starts crashing (should restart the servervice automaticly but it never did) and more weird things.
my freebsd proxy server has a record uptime of more then 1 month, and the reason why it's so low is that i reguarly need 1 of the network cards from it for other compies.
here you can see that 1 month for bsd is indeed very low (http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/today/top.avg.html)
it's just a fact, compaired 2 other os-es windows is really unstable.

Maybe i?m not that experience with Os but atleast i started with 95plus, when 98.
But you?re right, 98 is stable, but i have been using XP pro sp1 for over a year, and it has never crashed for me, despite that my pc is turned on 24/7
linux is cool, but not for newbies, i would love to see a newcomer try use linux hahaha, u have to remember to be good to microsoft, they are not always as bad as what ppl say, remember they are working their asses off so new users to computers can learn, and remember open source can be easy to find any holes, so it can be harmful, the more hackers look at linux source maybe they find someway of getting thru the opensource firewalls or whatever ;)

Take also a critical look at your applications.
It's not always windows, bad written apps can cause serious system troubles. :))

best os for noobs: amiga os/morhos.
way 2 install: copy the whole cd 2 hdd and your done.
way 2 config: nothing does it all by itself, there is a config panel but it hardly ever needed.
because of the open source the securety holes are fixed faster.
the 1st securety patch for windows not made by M$ has allready been released.
they couldn't stand that after 1.5 year the hole wasn't fixed yet.
but your right on the part that linux is absolutly nothing for noobs.
but lindows is on the good way.
plop
So who knows an os better then windows but easy to use and look better then windows is lindows any good?

Hi there:
I'm just posting here because i'm really impressed with the performance of windows 2000 servers.
Unfotunatly i do not use Win2k4 to post more info about it , but i sure can "talk" about Win2k.
I'm using windows 2000 server for about one year and suddendly i've remenbered a link:
http://www.blackviper.com/Articles/OS/OSguides.htm
In that website , explains the "services" used by the operating system.
It's very well documented and have also guides to install windows and linux operating systems.
Then i've decided to "cut back" some windows services , to have better performance from the machine.
Since then i am running a Ptokax hub and a HubList server , has you can see from the image:
This 800MHz AMD Duron with 512MB DIMM (133MHz) and 40Gb HD...is surprising me a LOT !!!
If you are looking for a REALLY simple solution with Linux...try LIVE CDs !!!
List of Linux Live CDs (click here) (http://www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php)
btw...the is also one Live CD for windows --> BartPE - Windows LIVE CD (http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/)
hmm my xp pro also has an uptime of months on an old computer. the only reason i ever need to reboot is usually something unrelated to OS instability. ME and 98 are really poor with ptokax, only last a day or so for me.
