Title: Is there a multi chat for 0.3.2.6 TD4 ?
Post by: viss on 04 May, 2004, 08:18:56
Hi guy's,

Firstly may I say congtats for the creation of a brilliant program. Second my question, We have 2 hubs running (private) and would like to be able to see the chat in both hubs in 1 window. Is this possible and how is it done?  Ive tried the multihub in ptokax but it dosent seem to work. Ive been searching for around an hour for answers but I cant find anything. Your help would be appreciated.

Viss :))

It works but its not quite what I had in mind. I was after a script or a bot to run within ptokax that would show the chat from both hubs in the DC Client so all can see whats happening in either hub. This is for a reason, both hubs have different share limits but we would all like to still communicate, as some users cant reach the spcified limit on the larger hub.

Hi,

You have that in ptokax software, take a good look at Multi-Hub, you can join the chats of various Hubs. You can also use this software to join chats, but you have to wait for ptokax script release... http://hub-link.sourceforge.net/

Best regards, nErBoS

I put MHServer address:  Hub address

MHSServer password:   #######

Multichat name: -=ChatBot=-

ticked the 3 boxes underneath hit connect and the status says not active?

I have created the username and password in the hub so I dont know whats wrong ?

Hub-Link does not require a support script to link the chat of two or more hubs.

Linked chat will appear as: Chat Message

With a support script it will appear as: Chat Message

OP-Chat between the two hubs can also be linked in the same way.

Hi there:

If you use Hub-Link , you can connect several hubs (running ptokax) together !!!
Without the hublink script for ptokax , it will only function "multi-chat" !!!

So...you just need to configure Hub-Link and both Ptokax to connect to the Hub-Link.
See more info here:

Title: MHServer
Post by: Psycho_Chihuahua on 04 May, 2004, 15:17:30
Why dont you just forget all those Ideas and just run the MHServer on one of your PC's and then add that MHServer in your Ptokax MultiHub Settings?

Thats what i did seeming though i am still triing to link 2 Ptokax Hubs, so that they make up 1 virtual one, and the scripts out there are rather rare.

If you see the above post ive tried MHServer but cant get it to work ?  I think it may be a firwall issue somthing is stopping it from connecting. Is there ant port settings that have to be allowed to let MHServer connect ?

Ok ive been looking into hublink and this looks like what I need. Now I was reading through the help file to set it up and noticed it refers to a .scipt file that must be placed on each of the hubs in the script folder, Correct me if im wrong Ptokax dosent use .script files but it uses .lua ? So what do I do now ? What file do I put in the hubs ?

Hia

We ( I ) have been running the MYC v1.05  for about half a year now and its runs just fine.. i had some problems with the 1.2 version, but as the 1.05 has all we wants i stay put....

As the MYC project has stoped developing i have waited for the Hub-Link to get PtokaX support.. but thinking a lot of testing it b4 as it seems to be delayed.

just some info

Hi there viss:
Hub-Link have it's own website (http://hub-link.sourceforge.net/) and forum (http://hub-link.sourceforge.net/forum) , so this is not the right place to make those questions...sorry.
About you're questions , you're 100% right !!!   :]
Ptokax uses .lua extension files and .script is used by SDCH and NMDC.
The lua script to connect PtokaX hubs to Hub-Link , is not public yet , but it will be soon .... ;)

BACK to the topic of this post...

Hub-Link can connect PtokaX and YHub hubs without any script !!!!
It will only "work" multi-chat , but....since topic for this thread is:
" Is there a multi chat for 0.3.2.6 TD4 ? "
Why use scripts and resources from you're hubs when Hub-Link can connect all without scripts needed ?
It's just as plain as adding DCHL user has an OP in all hubs and configure Hub-Link passwords for each hub.
And you're done !!! :D (for multi-chat)

Psycho_Chihuahua,

You're right of course, if all you want is multi-chat MHServer does the job quite nicely already.

MrZ,

MYC was based on Hub-Link Beta 2, Beta 3 includes all of the functionality of MYC that's why development stopped.

If you eventually want full linking then starting with Hub-Link puts you in a great position as all you'll need to do is add the local script when it is released.

Event_Horizon,

YHub generates a $Lock that occasionally  contains 'illegal' characters and causes the connection routine in Hub-Link to fail about 75% of the connection tries. Short Term fix is to disable the "Enable Key Check (Lock Respond)" on the Advanced Tab of the Advanced Settings in YHub. The next version of Hub-Link includes a more robust Lock2Key routine which solves the Yhub connection issue.

*'illegal' in the sense that the packet sniffing of an NMDC $Lock never included ASCII characters higher then 127 so it's assumed they should not be there, but YHub does use them.

viss,

The existing help for Hub-Link was written with NMDC and SDCH in mind, they use .script or .vbs/.js scripts.  When the PtokaX script is released publicly this will be updated to reflect a .lua script for PtokaX.

viss,

Not sure what problem you had that caused Access Violations in PtokaX but since you're not using a script I am sure your problem had nothing to do with Hub-Link.

I'm happy to help you get it set up correctly if you want... Solve your other problem and get your hub working again and then let me know....

The only thing I can think of is:

- the chat is blocked due to something on the Settings/Chat Filters page.
- The "WS" hub is not fully/properly logged in.
- The "WS" hub entry on the Hub-Link Hubs page is not "Enabled"

Hello Master HaArD:

- the chat is blocked due to something on the Settings/Chat Filters page.

The only thing who is filtered : Hub-Security and MOTD

- The "WS" hub is not fully/properly logged in.

login is correct: I've seen the chat from regusers will be shown in the other hubs, just OPs wont be shown

- The "WS" hub entry on the Hub-Link Hubs page is not "Enabled"

Hub-link is enabled - checked every time i changed something

hope this is the right info u need

read ya laterz :D

is hublink fully compatible with ptokax ? Last time i checked it wasn't due some script missing .
Title:
Post by: HaArD on 08 May, 2004, 17:24:43
[NL]Pur,

Hub-Link can work with or without a support script in place at the hub.

Without the script it simply acts as a multihub chat link and is one of about 5 solutions for acheiving that.
This has been tested with PtokaX, YHub, OpenDCHub, VerliHub, DCH++, Ryalth, SBHub, XHub.

With a script it enables full hub linking (excl. passive mode searches) and makes each hub an entry point to a larger Virtual hub which is the sum total of all linked hubs. This is currently available for NMDC and SDCH, the PtokaX script is in final Beta testing now.

Event_Horizon,

I'm stumped... Can you send me the Settings.xml file?

got it HaArD

it was my fault more or less

the users in my hub have all [WS] in front of their nick and I putt also [WS] as prefix in hublink.

now after i changed it everything works fine
