If u mean by listening to it , well no :(
Just show what u are listening to thru winamp and not all DC clients support that .

You need a plugin for winamp called amip which you can find on the net easily or you can send me an email and i can send it to you.

I have edited mine to show the following: Now Vibrating The Granny Next Door With <:: TDOTsuperman - 10th Anniversary Rap Mix ::> 160 Kbps 44 Khz -  78 Mins 42 Secs

and that shows on DC++ if you press Ctrl + Alt together then Z.... But u have to edit ur own way in the winamp plugin settings.. very easy to use and adjust...

You could host a shoutcast server on the same computer that you run the hub. There are already some scripts around that let you interface from PtokaX to shoutcast.

you users need 2 start winamp/foobar and connect 2 your shoutcast server.
streaming music isn't supported by the dc protocol and it never will be.

LOL!!!

"this is 1 major drawback..."

No. A protocol should do what it is supposed to do. DC is intended to connect computers for chat and P2P transfer. Nothing more, nothing less.

"where can i find more info on the dc protocol."

http://www.1stleg.com/1stleg/Download/Documents/DCProtocol/Introduction.html

Good luck. Hub to Client protocol is entirely text based.

well i m not an xpert... but if i dnt think dat the internet in its earlier forms supported viewing graphical images, animations, sounds hasnt the protocol developed.... i was wonderin abt the statement
"dc does not support streaming....  and it never will"

y not improve it... y shdnt some1 rewrite the whole dc protocol which supports a whole lotta stuff... y jst confine it 2 p2p n connectin boxes...

if i knew how 2 write a protocol i wud hav rewritten it supportin all this ... mayb i will 1 day ... lets c .

never shut off the lite even b4 u had an oppurtunity 2 switch it on.

... someone has to hit you with the ClueStick.

"but if i dnt think dat the internet in its earlier forms supported viewing graphical images, animations, sounds"

I'm guessing you are speaking of http protocol? That does exactly what it is supposed to, multimedia content over TCP/IP. You wouldn't expect a webpage to act as a DC hub.

If you aren't talking about http, do you mean IP, TCP/IP, UDP, etc? Those have changed very little and are the transporting protocol for higher level protocols.

"if i knew how 2 write a protocol i wud hav rewritten it supportin all this ... mayb i will 1 day ... lets c ."

You don't just write a protocol and it works. You must also have software to work with the protocol.

The DC protocol should be rewriten, but for a whole other list of reasons.

I'm working on transfering cake through DC :-P

pmsl rof.. nice one...

heh this is nice topic...why add something like that to a protocol that doesnt need it, that will slow it down, and well basically stupid......first of all a protocol is not programming...protocol is an idea, plans, the software...the server and the client, use the protocol.......

i would say it be the same as Mirc as in adding a script for it as Mirc has a script built in for it... To play music and it comes up at the bottom what track you playing with artist... but it the converting to Dc
