dctc is the core used in phpdc/dcgui (not dcgui-qt) and some more linux clients.
it's a deamon like program, dcgui just controlls it.

saw it running standalone and with dcgui.
standalone needs a bit of typing but with dcgui it's just as easy as dc++.
