Title: prevent users that don't share
Post by: civil on 21 December, 2003, 17:38:59
greetz all,

i want to ask that can we prevent a user that don't share with a script.

let me explain this with an example:

someone downloads winamp.exe from you and after the download finishes after a limited time (ex.15 minutes) the script checks that if the winamp.exe is in the share list of downloader and if it's not kicks the downloader.

is it possible? ;)

and maybe an extended version kicks the user who doesn't share winamp.exe less than 5 days  8)

any idea?

thanks from now. :)

Hmmm.. I am not sure abt this one, but i can tell you that the file transfer is from Client to Client!

That means, whatever file they download will not be monitored through the hub soft. If its like a search that is made on a specific file, then you can make a script that wud do this..

Maybe i am wrong, but to my knowledge.. thats what i think :)

yes i understand, but you said the script checks if the file you downloaded is in your share after a certain time.
But what's happening if you not behind your pc, and it
is taking some time before you are back?
Then the file isn't in share in short time.

I think it's hard to say of someone is burning it and
throwing it away, or is putting it in share after a short or
longer time. I can download something now, and putting it in share over 3 days.

file transfer is indeed a client thing.
the hub only tells the client were he can find the files witch are in the queue.
the client desides what he's gone download the moment it gets a slot.
there is no feedback 2 the hub from the client witch file it is downloading and there shouldn't be, it would only wastes bandwidth.

Yup exactly! If it end up sending the information through the hub soft, you need 5 x P4 Dual processors to handle all its processes lol  :P

well something like this (http://www.silicongraphics.com/servers/altix/) would definatly be enough power.
