hello my beloved forum:)

while on search for happiness i came upon an error that causes my pc to slow down a lot, and probably the same error that took my hub down for a week.

although i changed cabling into my machine, (3 eide ata133 cables) i still have a weird error in the event viewer of windows. dunno what else to do and since i found most help though this forum i though someone might have come upon the same error.

basically this is the error i get and its x100 shown in the event viewer:

1) The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1.   ---------> that shown as a disk source error

2) A parity error was detected on \Device\Ide\IdePort0.
this is shown as atapi source error

3.) The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2. --------> shown as disk source error

i know that this is usual a case of cable error but the cables i bought are new and i am going mad.

anyways have to go shopping before everything closes.

hope someone has a an idea what this is and how i could fix that. (please dont tell me my hd is in trouble:( )

anyways

Wish you all a happy hippy hoppy New Year and everything u wish for to come true.

hello enema,

i use a samsung 120gb 7200, an ibm 120gb 7200rpm and a 60gb maxtor 7200.

when i first saw my problem i downloaded the test software from each hd manufacturer.

for samsung the utility is named hutil.exe and checks the disk for any errors .... and also u can perform a low level format. either way i run the tests on all my disks,, but it came up with no errors so i am still in search.

anyway hope this info helps u a bit. otherwise check cabling? dunno

someone will know and help us :)

PS. for ibm/hitachi disks try Feature tool v.195 and Drive Fitness test v.4.00

PS. for Maxtor disk try Powermax v.4.0.9

and for general test i recommend MicroScope Diagnostic Software v.11.0.4

of 2 the shops

bastya_elvtars

always use the l8est drivers for machine

btw maybe your power supplies are out of power :)
Everything could have been anything else and it would have just as much meaning.

Use the website of you're motherboards and check if there is a updatedriver aviable for e-idecontroller.

Sometimes is it possible that you need to remove the jumper of the second drive or just need to select the jumper on cable select. (Read the specifications on the website of you hd's)

I got a same problem with my WD drives. I removed the jumper on drive 2 and had no more errors.

i will try moving the jumper around, but last time i opened my case and build my box i remember i could boot up the pc with only the configuration i have now.
dunno. also i use a seperate ata-sata contoller card as i use 3hd, a dvd and a cd burner. was planning to use extra 2 sata drives but this will be delaided till i fix this prob.
could you verify me that the \Device\Harddisk0 is the primary master disk? and \Device\Ide\IdePort0 also primary master disk?

thanx again all for the help. looking for updates on my motherboard now.

edit

forgot to mention that the power supply should work i think. 450w for a 2.4Althon with 512ddr400 and 3 hd, 2drives (cd-dvd), floppy :p, radeon 128 9000pro manlie, external soundcard.
whaterver.

happy happy New Year and if anyone works in retail stores please try and fix the closing times of the shops as i was kicked out by most of them for late shopping :(

Wenn you remove the jumper from the second drive must system nomal startup. Make a ghost from you're startup disk before trying.

Also the \Device\Harddisk0 is the primary master disk.
Device\Harddisk1 is the primary slave disk.
Device\Harddisk3 is the secondari master disk etc.

450w is good. It's better to have more :P :D

I cant find any of those softwares... even google doesnt help... Maybe you could give me a link to them or atleast put those  softs in your share and give me your hub address, so i could DL them :)

Sometimes you can use HDD Regenerator, which creates a disk, from which you boot the system, and check your HDD. It claims to be more efficient than the good old low-level format - and NO data loss.(Works by remagnetizing bad sectors AFAIK.) Don't exactly have proof for this, but worth trying IMHO.
