I'm just posting here because i'm really impressed with the performance of windows 2000 servers.
Unfotunatly i do not use Win2k4 to post more info about it , but i sure can "talk" about Win2k.
I'm using windows 2000 server for about one year and suddendly i've remenbered a link:

In that website , explains the "services" used by the operating system.
It's very well documented and have also guides to install windows and linux operating systems.
Then i've decided to "cut back" some windows services , to have better performance from the machine.
Since then i am running a Ptokax hub and a HubList server , has you can see from the image:

This 800MHz AMD Duron with 512MB DIMM (133MHz) and 40Gb HD...is surprising me a LOT

hmm my xp pro also has an uptime of months on an old computer. the only reason i ever need to reboot is usually something unrelated to OS instability. ME and 98 are really poor with ptokax, only last a day or so for me.
